This charming hotel has a lovely patio and attentive service. My sister and I felt like we were special guests during our entire visit. We enjoyed the sauna with eucalyptus leaves and absolutely loved the fresh, gourmet meals. What a treat! Sergio at the front desk was so friendly and helpful too!

The staff in this hotel is wonderful. The food is incredible!!!!!!!. The rooms are very comfortable. The location is fun. I would get up each morning and watch the porters returning form their Macchu Picchu trek get their huge bags off the train. Then I would walk to Ollantay to watch the town wake up. Advice: Take advantage of the lovely hikes out of Ollantay..Pumamarca, Ancopacha, Huilloc, Pacchaj, Las Canterras etc. Get to know the lovely people that live here. Take a guide with you wherever you go You will learn so much more. We spent 10 days at El Albergue and had a fantastic time .

El Albergue is the perfect location if you plan on taking the early train to Machu Picchu or traveling around the area for a few days.. The rooms are lovely. They are clean. The windows are left open during the day to let the fantastic air in.There is wifi in the rooms. Yes, there are no toiletries in the room. However, the staff is lovely and will go out of their way to accommodate you. They have pick up service from Cusco airport with a great driver. They are right at the train station.
Town is a short walk away. You can get a tuk tuk for a dollar to take you into town or back. l usually stay at 5 star hotels. El Albergue will make you feel at home. There are no televisions in the room.

I read great reviews of this place so went in with pretty high expectations. I was sorely disappointed as I found the staff to be very unhelpful and, given the high relative price of the rooms there, I was really surprised at how stingy they were at every turn. Finally, the room was full of mosquitoes...

Cracking place, must have been part of the old train station at some stage and still is. Nice rooms with balconies overlooking the beautifully tended gardens, complete with a little stream running through. The restaurant, which is part of the B&B, is fantastic and run by a John Butler look alike with an excellent laid back attitude. Great to have the craick with, meals are very good and reasonably priced. The reception staff were helpful, informative and chatty, even when they weren't off duty. As another reviewer mentioned, the wifi didn't work from our room or balcony. However, we didn't find this a problem as it was very pleasant sitting on the patio outside the restaurant checking emails etc. The trains may be a bother to some, but we found the noise reassuring and romantic. Trains passing in the night! Thanks for a lovely stay. Bob & Lyn

We had a mixed experience at this hotel. It came very highly recommended from a friend, so we decided to splurge a bit and try it. It was nice and clean enough, although for $75, I was expecting a lot more. The bad part was that they had no water for some reason or other. The did discount our room 50% without us asking to, so they handled the bad situation very well. The other bad part was breakfast. It is included in your room, and you can order one of several choices off the menu. However, the kitchen and wait staff was highly disorganized and extremely inefficient. We ordered about 30 or even 40 minutes before our train was due to depart, but we had only gotten coffee and no milk by the time we needed to get on the train. We asked them for our breakfast to go, and they did manage to get us 2 boxed breakfasts just in the nick of time, but they ended up being someone else's order, not ours. If you stay here, allow at least an hour before your train if you want to eat breakfast.

I highly recommend this B&B. All the rooms seems to be getting a remake. We had booked the mini-suite and got one of the upgraded rooms - very spacious with two double beds, bathroom, large shutters on the windows which was a lovely feature and balcony with deck chairs which is shared with one other room. The staff are very friendly, it has a relaxed - quiet feel, breakfast is smallish but good and you are right beside the train platform. The ruins in the town itself are not to be missed and this B&B is your perfect choice for accomodation - enjoy!!
