“Nice hotel, but far from everything”
Reviewed 22 September 2012

This would be a good option if you are not interested in seeing the town or having dinner somewhere else. The hotel itself is very nice, huge room and nice garden. Quiet and peaceful.
We tried to walk to town, walked over 30 mins and got no where.
There is a store right across the street once you walk out to the road that leads you into the hotel - so that will only take about 5 mins if you want some water/soda or snacks.
We didn't order the 3 course dinner, but we were able to order some tasty sandwiches instead during the dinner hours.
Breakfast the next morning was delicious - it wasn't a buffet as advertised on the website, probably because there was only 6 people the night we stayed. We just had to pick out what we want to have the day before and it's table service.
No TV in the room - there's one at the bar.

One story hotel surrounding large landscaped courtyard. The grounds and views of the surrounding mountains beautiful. Our group went to corner store., bought local wine ,sat on the porch and had a good time.

WiFI if you sit in reception area.
Breakfast pretty good
No Heat
No TV in rooms
Clean rooms
Rather remote location

Room Tip: good with group - probably should avoid if just a couple unless you want seclusion.

The ground were very nice and surprising wrt it's location. But they really, really need to spend just a few hundred dollars and buy some heaters for the rooms! I always think it is incredibly stupid for people to have something really nice and then spoil it for a short-sighted lack of investing just a bit more money. Some people in our group got heaters, others did not and those that did not were not happy campers.

My advice: ask them as soon as you arrive for a heater, be certain they understand and acknowledge you, and do not accept no for an answer.

I enjoyed the stay overall, in part because we got a heater, but I probably would not stay there again and could not recommend this lodge to others unless they correct the situation.

One more short-sighted issue: there is internet service outside their office but not in the rooms. Once again, something that just a bit more money could solve and make everyone really enjoy their visit and recommend this lodge to others.

We were a family of three including 11 and 13 year-old. The rooms themselves were nice and had character. The courtyard seemed a bit unkempt and there never, ever seemed to be anyone around to ask a question -- once I had to go back into the laundry room to find someone. The entire place was freezing cold, the dining room and bar area were tacky and inhospitable. When we asked the waitress to light a fire in the dining room and bring in a heater, she looked at us as if we were crazy, and the next meal we had to ask again. The situation with signing up for your meal selections ahead of time was annoying and the selection was not sufficient. The fact that the hotel was way out of town was a pain, because you had to wait at least twenty minutes for a cab. My kids loved the dog, Aron.

The dog (Arron) is THE cutest thing you will ever see, and the grounds are beautiful. BUT the rooms and dining room are freezing (we had to request heaters every time we had a meal), dinner has to be ordered an hour in advance, the staff are not very friendly, and it was completely empty despite the huge amount of rooms. We switched to Sol Y Luna (much better choice) after two days.

Room Tip: We stayed on Room 15. I don't really think it matters what room you stay in.

We had fun playing with the dog, but the rooms were boring, food was bad, and service was terrible.

I realized this hotel would be perfect for us as soon as we arrived. It is located near the mountains, absolute silence and the nature surrounding it is incredible. The hotel has beautiful and peaceful gardens. The rooms are stunning: every detail has been taken care of. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are very good and on top of it all one has Mary, the manager, looking after the guests in a very personal and friendly way. Everyone there is just lovely. We recommend it 100% Thank you for everything and for making this vacation so special!
