While in Urubamba, our guide recommended having gourmet dinner at Tres Keros. The younger folks in our group has heard of the world reknowned chef Ricardo , who owns the establishment. The restaurant is quite small, maybe seating 30 at the most, but the wooden structure added to the Sacred Valley atmosphere. Ricardo greeted us as if he knew us very well, and made entree reccommendations. I ordered the lomo soltado (supposedly the signature entree of the restaurant) and my wife ordered the chicken with mushroom dish. Both were excellent! The beef was very tender, tasty, and cooked to perfection. The other people in our group ordered other entrees, and they all have high praises for their entrees. The lamb entree was great, according to a couple of our friends who ordered them.

The price wasn't outrageously high. It was probably on the high end category, but for the quality and deliciousness of the food one gets, it was well worth it. Highly recommended for a dinner at the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Urubamba.

My husband and I had dinner at Tres Keros based upon TripAdvisor reviews. We started with sharing a wonderful salad (go for it fellow travelers - it's safe here!) with asparagus, hearts of palm, avocado and an awesome dressing. Good thing we shared since the portion size was large and we both ordered Lomo Saltado which was AMAZING! We had no idea what this was & ordered based entirely on reviews (thanks again TA!) and this was so delicious. The meat was tender, vegetables delicious and cooked to perfection and the French fries (not sure when I remember the last time I allowed those on to my plate!!) were outstanding. Ricardo is the consummate host and our server was great - very sweet & got everything right on our order. I can't speak to the libations since we were both refraining from alcohol (darned altitude sickness) but others around us raved about the wines and Pisco Sours.

We were suggested to check 3 Keros for lunch, when we got there, we thought it was closed, nobody there besides a lady setting tables and apparently no kitchen staff, actually we had to knock. The building is an old local constant constructed with wood and the mix they make out of mud and straws for finishing walls (it's not ugly), it's picturesque and seems to be not so sturdy. But drinks are good, cold (in case of sodas, ask for ice) and the food is good and flavorful. The only issue is that it proposes to be a gourmet place, maybe a bistro in a bar like building. We ate in the varanda because it was too hot inside and the table was very dusty - wasn't wiped before service. Price is a little above average.

Went with high expectations after all the glowing reports. Service was very slow and erratic. No starters or desserts on the menu. We had trout. One dish was with a sickly sweet sauce and the other very over salted. Both were very cool despite the long wait. Coffee was instant! In Peru! Prices not appropriate for the food or service. This may be an example of a bad day or misuse of Tripadvisor. The Pisco sour was pretty good, but certainly not good enough to bring us back.

Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we decided to have dinner at Tres Keros. The reviews were right - this is a terrific restaurant PERIOD. The food was delicious and the chef, Ricardo, very friendly. I had the Lomo Saltado - a first for me. It was very tasty. The meat was tender with a unique, spicy flavor. The trout with capers was similarly very well prepared and flavorful. The beef medallions in a creamy mushroom sauce were a big hit with my wife, who is not easy to please when it comes to trying something new. If you're in the Urumbamba area, this terrific restaurant is a must!
