We stayed at the Valle Sagrado Lodge after Cusco and before Machu Picchu. The view was amazing! The room itself was large, modern, and very charming with lots of polished wood. The location is a bit removed from the town, but worth the comfort and views.

When we were in Peru we got caught in between a public transportation hike and ended up showing up at the hotel at 11 pm at night. They were able to accomadate us and make us feel very comfortable.

We were only planning on staying here one night but ended up staying here 3 days. This place was our favorite place in Peru.

Due to the strike we were the only guests at the hotel for one day because no one was able to come and go and the manager made sure that we still had breakfast and all the other things that we would need.

This place is so beautful and serence, not to mention the rooms are magnificiant.

A great thing that the hotel is doing is hiring local people from the area - to train and educate them so that the community can also become more invested in tourism as well as taking pride in the area in which they come from.

The hotel restaurant has very good and fresh Peruvian food!

The manager was so accomadating and not to mention a very great and educated conversationalist who did whatever he could to make our trip at this hotel as amazing as possible. I would recommend this for anyone who needs to get away and just relax. It is located a bit outside of Ollantaytambo but definetly worth the trip.

We arrived late in the evening at the Libertador Valle Sagrado Lodge after touring the Sacred Valley. We checked in and went to our room. The room was large and comfortable. It also had good-sized balcony. I did find the safe a bit difficult to work with, but that was minor inconvenience. We had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel that evening. The food and the service at the restaurant were good.

Then next morning we were up early to catch the train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu. It was dark when we arrived the night before so we really didn’t get to fully appreciate the grounds and the surrounding mountains until the next morning. The scenery was quite nice. The breakfast buffet was one of the best that we had while we were in Peru.

I suppose the one drawback would be that the hotel it is located fairly far from town, so walking into town would be difficult. However in our case this wasn’t a problem because we were just there for an overnight stay.

If you are looking for a nice place to relax after touring the Sacred Valley, Libertador Valle Sagrado Lodge is a good choice.

I would have enjoyed spending a little more time there.

We spent two lovely days at this hotel. We were a group of fourteen ages 11 to 52 from Argentina and we all enjoyed it very much. Rooms are spacious and impecable. Food was extremely good althouth the service was a little slow. All the staff members were polite and fiendly at all times. The gardens were blooming with flowers and we found it difficult to leave such nice surroundings. A very good choice to stay.

Our stay at this hotel was just great. The manager could not do enough to make our stay intersting and enjoyable. The staff were freindly and helpful, and the food was excellent. It was good to see the chef out in the garden each morning selecting fresh produce for the day.
I highly recommend this as a great accommodation place in the sacred Valley. Accommodation is in very well appointed spacious lodges, located part way up the mountainside in a valley. Views are sensational.

When our travel agent couldn't get us into Kuychi Rumi they booked us here.

It frankly paled in comparison with Sol y Luna and we begged our agent to send us back there. We even paid more to move.

This place has none of the charm of Peru's best hotels.

There are no comfortable public areas to take in the landscape. No benches. No gardens. A small smoky sports bar with a futbol game blaring.

It was COLD and smelled a bit musty. There was a strange sticky liquid on the floor of the bathroom.

We'd been told they had outdoor activities but they had no pool and no pamphlets to other nearby attractions. When we asked about riding horses (our travel agent had told us we'd be wanting to do this) they seemed confused. (And I speak Spanish fluently)

The restaurant had no fire (most other restaurants in Peru did) and was cold and the food was bland. Shortly afterwards we became ill with traveler's diarrhea. Although we can't be sure it was eating at that hotel - it seemed to get worse after that meal.

We retired early to our room to play cards. The big complex was largely empty.

If you are with a tour group and your bus lets you off here overnight for a stay - you'll do fine.

We were on our honeymoon and were looking for a lovely place to linger and unwind for a few days. This did not fit the bill. We decamped as soon as possible for Sol y Luna and were much happier there.

The staff were cheerful and friendly and helped us to get other space heaters from other rooms to heat up our place. They seemed sad to see us go, and especially to hear that we were going to their competitor Sol y Luna but their hotel had so little to offer in comparison.

  • Liked — Some of the workers were friendly and nice.
  • Disliked — Cold, isolated with nothing to do, empty

We stayed in Libertador Valle Sagrado Lodge for three nights a few weeks ago. First, the hotel is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a room with a balcony with views of the valley. The room was HUGE, one of the biggest we have ever stayed in. It had a king size bed, a sitting area, and a table with two chairs. The bathroom was large with a tub and shower and the sink outside the bathroom. It was all impeccably clean. I especially loved the hardwood floors. Honestly, the decor was beautiful!

We ate dinner one night at the restaurant and ordered room service another night. The food good but the selection a bit limited. The prices in the restaurant are definitely cheap compared to American standards but expensive for Peru. Overall, I think most things were quite expensive in the hotel.

The breakfast buffet was really yummy and large! There were tons of choices to pick from. They even had waiter service during breakfast that brings you coffee.

Everyone that worked there was very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. That is where the problem lied for us. It was too much pampering for my style. You need to be the kind of person that is used to having people carry stuff for you, open doors for you, walk you to your room -that sort of stuff. If you like that sort of thing, then I believe you should look no further because this hotel should work out great. My husband and I are typically budget travelers and we like to do things on our own. This hotel kind of prevented us from that. For instance when we got to the Urubamba train station to pick up the train to Machu Picchu, the driver from the hotel got out of the car, opened our doors, walked us to the train station, found out which train we had to go on, etc. I didn’t really need this because I am Hispanic and I know Spanish, so I can communicate with the locals. It is one of those things, is not that it is bad, just not to our style. Just letting you know so you don't feel uncomfortable. Also, I felt guilty and wanted to give tips to everyone because everyone kept doing something for us. Another instance is when we went to the Pisac Market and a driver from the hotel took us there. He walked with us around the market and then we went to the ruins and he also walked around with us there—refusing to let me carry my own bags. I just felt uncomfortable with it, nobody should feel like they have to carry my bags. However, he was extremely nice and friendly.

Their taxi prices are expensive, so perhaps, one way to prevent their gauging tariffs is to order your own taxis.

Also, always keep in mind that this hotel is out of the way. It is down a long dirt road. It can be a benefit because it gives you solutide, peace, tranquility and natural beauty around you. It can also be a hindrance because you will need to take a taxi to go anywhere.

Overall, this hotel is great but it is not perfect for everybody. But I don't think anything is ;o) Make sure you know what sort of experience you want to have in the Sacred Valley and then book accordingly.

  • Liked — beautiful grounds and room
  • Disliked — too dependent on taxis to get around
