“Great honeymoon stop”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and just before we did the 4-day Inca Trail. The hotel is perfect, cosy, quiet and romantic. Food was lovely and whilst we don't normally like hotel entertainment, they had some very interesting shows. Location was perfect for the Inca Trail as it's between Cusco and the start of the trail which means we didn't have to get up as early as the others who left from Cusco.

Room Tip: Some of the bigger room/ suites have fireplaces. We got a standard room which was huge and lovely, b...

This was the most relaxing place to stay during our 18 day tour of Peru. Individual spacial and extremely well appointed detached bungalows in wonderful gardens. You could just sit in the garden and enjoy everything. Breakfast was good if you were early and they would cook eggs to order etc. Only negative was you were isolated and virtually a captive clientele so as a result restaurant prices were 50% high compared with other areas of Peru but not expensive in European terms. We loved it there but save your pennies by buying water and drinks at the local shops at the end of the lane.

Spent 2 nights at this marvellous property. Sheltered behind high walls a very warm welcome awaits, and the grounds unfold to reveal a beautifully laid out property comprising individual bungalows among winding paths and gardens. The rooms want for nothing, with comfortably large beds, great linen and peace. There is not a sound around at night except for the tinkling of running water in a rivulet alongside the property wall. The views from the property are also spectacular in that one gazes at very tall mountains around the Sacred Valley. Bearing in mind the altitude here is around 3,400 meters a slow pace is recommended in any case, to catch ones breath.
The property is also a most convenient location to visit Machu Picchu, via the Vista Dome train, the station being just a 40 min drive away.
The restaurant is located in a stand-alone building of 2 levels, the upper comprising a pleasant bar and log fire, and below the main restaurant. There is also an optional dining facility within the property. The dinners partaken were very pleasant and the staff very attentive. While the breakfast buffet is very good, the replenishment of it, or the ability to place an order for cooked items the service was somewhat tardy.
Free wi-fi is provided, but to get good reception it was necessary to either use it in the main lobby, or within the restaurant area. By the way there is absolutely no TV to be found anywhere, which I believe enhances the ambience of the property.
For me clearly this was a once only visit as its location is special to understand the Inca history around Sacred Valley, and to visit Machu Picchu, however it is along drive from the Cusco Airport to get there for a return visit, if only wanting to stay again.
In summary a first class establishment, and thoroughly recommended.

Dear Tastony2,

Our sincerest thanks for your review,
We really appreciate all the description you made and we are glad to know that you enjoy your stay.
With all the mountains around and beautiful places to visit, we think that television is unnecessary. One of the goal of Sol & Luna is to give an opportunity to our guest to be really connected with the nature!
We apologize about the internet connection you had and hope it hasn’t been uncomfortable.
Once again, thank you for your beautiful comment, we really appreciate and take into consideration our clients feedback.

Kind regards,

We stayed in a casita for 4 nights here and were blown away. This is truly serenity in the Sacred Valley. Our two level casita was perfect for our family of four.

We found the service to be extraordinarily helpful. I misread the safe instructions and "broke" the safe. They asked me a good time to fix it, and came during breakfast the next morning - at 7 am!

One really special extra was the hot water bottles in your bed at turndown service. I have to say, that was a highlight. If you've never experienced that, it's a treat.

We had also two extraordinary dinners at the restaurant for which the menu changes every night. They were very good. The service is leisurely, but that is to be expected anywhere but here in the USA.

The pool is small, and wasn't heated during our stay but still was a nice place to gather, lounge or read a book.

They have many great paths to walk and enjoy. We also had a few buffet dinners at the ranch that were good, and had the added benefit of a dance(ish) performance of the story of how the world came to be (from the incan point of view) and a horse dancing show. Both were very good (but not very long).

Overall, I would highly recommend for a Sacred Valley stay. We would stay here again.

This place is lovely with great big rooms, fantastic bathrooms and lovely grounds. But if you want someone to refill your coffee cup at breakfast or even ask you if you want to order something - forget it. We stayed here for 2 nights and then one more night later in the trip, The service never changed. At a place like this, you expect above excellent service, not a large pump coffee thermos for breakfast service. The waiter did come to our table and ask our room number - BUT NEVER if we wanted to order. This was the worst breakfast during our over 2 week stay in Peru. We had dinner one night at the horse pavilion area and another "complaint" was paying 42 sols(around $16) for a small pisco sour. This is twice what all of the other places charge. So if you want to stay in you room and enjoy the scenery - go there. But take a cab into town for a great meal. Breakfast is a "wash". Location is isolated - no walking to adjacent places to eat. Eat there any pay the prices or cab to town for a much better deal.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else. Would never stay there again.

The hotel is conveniently located in a secured property in the Sacred Valley. We had the deluxe casita and it was larger than our first apartment! Had a wonderful yard around it and a private jacuzzi. It was beautifully appointed and the setting was wonderful. We ate many of our meals there and every one of them was excellent. The staff at the desk was very helpful and accommodating, as were the wait staff in the restaurants. The setting is luxuriously opulent with all the flowers. Just walking around the property is a treaet. They offered a horse show in the afternoon and evening (if there was a group there) which we enjoyed. Apparently there were some dancers in the evening, but we were not aware of that and missed the short performance. Overall, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru.

Room Tip: We worked through a travel agent so I do not know the cost of our deluxe casita. If you are able to...

This hotel is tucked back off the road in Urubamba, Peru. There are no TVs (except in the family suites) and the internet is touch and go, but with the amazing grounds and all there is to see and do in the area, it was hardly missed. The food in the hotel restaurant, Killa Wasi, was fresh and excellent examples of local cuisine. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful- mostly spanish speakers. A great bonus were the heated water bottles that were placed as part of turn down service to warm your bed for you. I would highly recommend staying at this amazing place.
