“Sacred Valley retreat...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We recently stayed at Sol y Luna for 4 nights as part of an Adventures by Disney tour (which I highly recommend!)... we really enjoyed being there, so tranquil and they have done a great job with the landscaping. They have a stable, and offer horse back riding, which part of our party took advantage of, and spa services as well. Although the mornings and evening got a little nippy, the staff provides hot water bottles for the beds at night! The casitas were really lovely, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast buffet!!

Room Tip: some of the casitas have woodburning fireplaces!

In March of 2014 we went on the Lindblad National Geographic expedition to the Galápagos and Peru. It was an amazing trip. Lindblad and National Geographic took care of everything (almost) with impeccable style and care. On day 11 we had an early flight from Lima to Cusco. There was a harvest festival going on in Cusco that day and it was very fun and lively. Lunch at a very nice restaurant downtown, then we did a tour of the large Inca site of Saqsayhuaman, followed by a visit to llama/alpaca farm where we bought a beautiful wall hanging. We then descended in to the Sacred Valley of the Inca and arrived at the Sol & Luna Lodge Spa where we stayed for two nights in a private lodge/bungalow. The Sol & Luna Lodge Spa is an amazing resort with great rooms and food. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and worth a stroll. We saw a horse show, weaving demonstration, Inca history lectures and native dance show at the resort. And Wi-Fi was good at the resort. We didn't get to use the spa facilities at the resort due to all our activities but we heard from other guests they were very nice. Besides the outstanding beauty, food and service of the Lodge they are located in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Inca. This makes it an easy ride from Cusco and a great base to use for visiting Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. Highly recommended.

I just stayed here with my family and this hotel is now one of my 10 favorite in the world. It is absolutely lovely and the service is wonderful. The food in the restaurant is fantastic. The rooms and grounds are gorgeous. It's one of those rare hotels that combines luxury with personality and is in an amazing setting with the gardens and then the Andes rising around you. The staff will come and light a fire in your room, place a hot water bottle in your bed, and provide you with other thoughtful touches. This part of Peru is fascinating but staying at this hotel still stands out as a highlight.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Casita Deluxe and loved it.

I stayed at Sol & Luna as part of a two week trip throughout Peru. This was one of my favorite hotels I stayed at! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, the staff was professional and friendly and our casita was great. I loved the layout of the room, so different from anything I have ever stayed at. The beds were super comfortable, the bathroom was huge and unique. The food at the hotel was amazing. The breakfast was superb and the dinner, while expensive, were excellent and worth every penny.I love that the hotel is environmentally conscientious as it is community-oriented. One hundred percent of the hotel’s profits are redirected into schools and other programs, the most visible example of which is the Colegio Intercultural, a private school that draws children from all walks of life. Great stay, great cause. Thank you!!

Beautiful surrounding, peaceful, lovely spa, amazing modern restaurant. Definitely worth a visit, stayed one night, could have stayed a few. We ate at the main restaurant, (not the ranch) eating by the fire after the sauna made the experience unique, we were in the middle of the peaceful sacred valley. May be expensive, but would recommend the restaurant. Breakfast is great too.

One of the most beautiful settings of any hotel in our visit to Peru (in a town, Urubamba, that is far from charming). Great location for exploring the Sacred Valley. The gardens are spectacular, the casitas are large and well-furnished. Service was excellent throughout. Two reservations: the casita in early July was chilly--the in-room heater barely made the grade. The two restaurants are expensive. For the more formal restaurant, the prices were matched by excellent quality. For the second, more informal restaurant, that was not the case: I had the most costly club sandwich ever (including NYC). Wines by the glass were also the highest I have seen (for ordinary wine). Sol y Luna would do well to provide a genuinely informal (and less costly) option for guest dining.

Absolutely fantastic. Our Casita was great. Gardens were excellent and what a backdrop!! Bar and restaurants excellent. We only stayed one night unfortunately. Possibly may have stayed longer had we been aware of the other activities available. The whole place was so well laid out and done with tasteful quality. A real Oasis. Certainly recommend more than one night.
