“Horrible experience”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Other travellers must have gone to a different restaurant than I did. We went to this place as part of a tour group and had their buffet for dinner. YUK! The only good things were the the mashed potato roll stuffed with avocado and chicken, and the chocolate pecan tart. No one else was there but us, should have told us something. The alpaca, chicken and beef were all dry. The fish was tasty but mushy. Then they have this panflute duo playing and afterwards, they come around while you're eating and pass the hat for tips. The place was also very cold. I had to eat with my coat on. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

“Surprisingly nice restaurant in the middle of nowhere”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

We stopped at this pleasant restaurant, which was previously a hacienda. They had a very nice buffet as part of our tour. The food was good, and the surroundings were very pleasant. This was a much needed stop on a full day tour.

“A Hidden Paradise and a Gourmet Buffet”
Reviewed 13 February 2013

You will find a hidden gem in the Sacred Valley near the pueblo of Urubamba. Alhambra Hacienda Restaurant is tucked away on an estate situated about 1/4 mile of the main road to Ollantaytambo. Alhambra was a pleasant surprise to our tour. We were fortunate enough to be the only couple to be dropped off at this lunch-time paradise. Alas, we only had an hour to dine before the bus returned to continue our guided tour. (In all honesty, I would have preferred to have spent the entire afternoon at this idyllic location.) I have no idea as to price we paid, because the cost of the buffet lunch was included in our tour package. I would recommend that if you are booking a tour, ask your agent to include this restaurant in your lunch time itinerary.

The restaurant, and several gift shops reside in this converted ranch or plantation in the Sacred Valley. The lunch buffets includes 5 stations of gourmet Peruvian cuisine. The meal began with a fresh soup and ended with fresh cheesecake and purple massamora. The entrees included a selection of braised pork, chicken roulada, broiled trout and a beef gulasch. The only item that was less than superb was the beef, which was on the tough and chewy side. The deal was, eat all you want, but if you wanted a cold drink, you would be charged. We ate outside in one of the pavilions surrounded by the gardens and accompanied by the herd of llamas and vicanas. The premises are immaculate and well-manicured. After dining, you can peruse through one of several gift shops on the estate or relax with a cold drink overlooking the gardens. The service provided at Alhambre is first class. The wait staff is friendly, courteous and attentive.

If you want to eat somewhere different and exotic, and you enjoy light, gourmet dining, I highly recommend Alhambra Hacienda. You will enjoy a great lunch, and be able to take some outstanding photos.
