We had the very good fortune of staying here for 2 nights as we acclimated in advance of Machu Picchu and then Cusco. We were advised to do this, rather than the reverse which is what most tourists do by a South American friend, she was SO right! Peru can be a tough trip, and the altitude issues are real. This hotel makes all the troubles disappear. The staff is attentive, speaks many languages, it is immaculate, welcoming, comfortable, safe, and you could spend days not leaving the grounds. Our room was quite nice, 2nd floor with a garden & mountain view. It was clean, well appointed, quality linen, and instant attention to any calls to the front desk. Breakfast is full of healthy food, with many options. There is much to explore on the grounds, it was a palace, a monastery, and an estate. There are many places to sit outside with fruit trees, glorious gardens, animals, and breathtaking views. We asked for an off site local restaurant suggestion, there are not many, and received this graciously. Yucay should not just be your stopping point between Cusco and Machu Picchu, it should be a destination and wherever you put this in your itinerary, you will be well-rested, attended to, and ready for your next stop. Any meals you can have down the road at Ananau...go there! We'll write seperately on this, but make sure you meet the owner who is wonderful, and meet Luci, who is by far the sweetest, most interesting, and lovely waitress in Peru!!

Room Tip: Try to get second floor, any view is good.

This was our first stay on a tour of Peru. Great way to acclimate to the elevation. The hotel is beautiful, friendly and quaint. The restaurant is also very nice. Easy walking distance to town and more great restaurants. Would like to stay again.

Dear guest,

We would like to thank your preference and the time you took to share with us your experience during your stay in our Hotel.
We are deeply sorry to know you had some problems in our Hotel, we thank you to share them with us, they will allow us to improve in the future. Let me inform you that we have a project to change the locks of our doors to electric ones to make easier to our guests and make them feel safe. Another thing that i would like to mention is that we do have an omelet station in the end of the buffet where you can order any type of eggs. We hope you can visit another time to reverse the bad moment you had.

All the best for you and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have an question.

Sincerely,

We stayed here on May 26, 2014 only for one night while traveling towards Machu Picchu. I believe this place used to be either a convent or a monastery. There is a chapel across from the breakfast room. The grounds around the property are beautiful with lots of flowers everywhere and water fountains. The room we had was in the first floor very close to the breakfast room and it was clean and spacious. The guests that were there that night were not considered of the other guests and were making too much noise just outside our room. Also, because the building looks like an old Spanish Hacienda the rooms are not well insulated. We had a hard time figuring out how to use the key to lock the door. Even when the door was locked we did not feel very safe. The bed in our room was not very comfortable and it felt "lumpy". The breakfast room was set up beautifully but I did not see scrambled eggs anywhere. However, everything else they offered was good.

We did not stay there, but we had a lunch with our tour.
The place is like a part from heaven… Flowers, scenery, everything was incredible. There was an open buffet set up in restaurant. All the food was delicious. We loved Peruvian kitchen. We ate until we cannot move. Of course we drank Qusqenia beer from the first minute we arrived in Peru and also famous lemonade made with egg white. I could drink 5 glasses of it. We couldn’t leave from there to continue our daily tour together with the other tourists of tour from this place.
We like it a lot.
Sulpayki!

While the property is "charming" and has very beautiful grounds, the rooms are terrible. It starts with door locks that open with huge skeleton keys. The locks are difficult to figure out, and are not secure. The rooms are cramped and tiny. The furnishings included a bed, a small wooden table, a wooden chair with uneven legs and a very small dresser. My room was near the staircase, and the noise from other guests coming and going was very noticeable. The wireless was very weak, and faded in and out. The floor is hard, cold tile, which did not feel great underfoot. I wanted a lite meal, so ordered at the bar what was called "Peruvian chicken & potatoes"; it turned out to be something similar to chicken nuggets at McDonalds and French fries. This was the worst place I stayed in Peru. It is not as advertised.

Room Tip: The staff was responsive and helpful.

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you preference and also the time you took to share with us your experience with us, this will let us to improve in the future. We are deeply sorry to know we have not filled out your expectations but let me explain you that our Hotel is an remodelated old monastery and the style we have and sale is a Hotel from the Sacred Valley, rustic and colonial that is the reason our furniture looks old and are adequate to keep the harmony of our style. We know we have a lot of people that loves our hotel and there will be some that will not. Regarding the wifi and the meal you ordered , we would like to appologize, definitely we are going to check with each area to avoid this issues in the future. We are taking notes of all your comments
