“On the Rambla”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

Stayed here for a couple of nights in November 2013. Was greeted by a friendly concierge near the front gate and he directed us to reception and showed us where to park our rental car.
Note: You can only turn into this property when travelling towards the city.
Reception staff could speak English. Our bags were taken upstairs and before we could put our hands in our pockets for a tip, the fellow had disappeared.

We stayed in a studio apartment on the 1st floor. $118 US per night, which included breakfast.

The flooring in the unit was laminate and tiles throughout. No carpet. There was a kitchenette that included a sink, microwave and small fridge, cutlery and crockery, etc.

There was air con, flat screen tv, table and chairs. Also free WIFI, that worked.

There was a small shared outdoor balcony on this side of the building unit and we had a glimpse of the river.

The bathroom had modern fittings with toilet, shower and bidet.

Everything in the apartment seemed clean and fresh and there always seemed to be someone cleaning and wiping the doors and windows around the place.

There is a lift in the building and an outdoor pool.

The continental breakfast buffet had a good selection of food and the attendant kept everything topped up.

Most everything about this place is great but I did come across a couple of things that were issues for me.....
There is a 6 inch level drop from the balcony into the room and it was easy to stumble. Also the steps between the ground floor and first floor have a peculiar cut or angle and twice I nearly fell (an addition of some visible edging would benefit users). Being a safety manager I would consider myself to normally be able to identify these hazards before I injure myself, but I somehow kept managing to have near misses, and I felt lucky that I did not have a serious injury. So future guests beware of these design flaws.
I am of an average height and could not reach the bath towels that were place on a high rack way above the toilet.
Also, due to the hard floors we experienced noise from the unit above.

It is about a 15-20 minute walk to shops and restaurants and the Tienda Inglesa supermarket.

This is the 3rd hotel I have stayed at on the Rambla and I would probably try somewhere different next time. Even though this hotel is in Carrasco (and I prefer this quieter end of the Rambla) I may try a location where it is easier to access the property.

We stayed here for 3 nights. On arrival we were upgraded which was very much appreciated. The hotel is overlooking the sea in a nice part of town. Montevideo is a 30 minute bus journey away. The bus stop is about half a mile from the hotel. The buses run regularly monday to saturday and about every 45 minutes on sundays. The apartment we had was wonderful with 2 flat screen tv's. Breakfast was good. The staff are very helpful and speak decent English. For the price we paid it was great value

Stayed here for 6 days and was completely satisfied. The staff speak various languages, the rooms were immaculate, free parking in the hotel ground floor, a pleasant walk to restaurants, grocery store, across the road from a beautiful sandy beach, a good breakfast every morning, and so much more. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back--the Rambla (the road out front) is very noisy. For a huge patio area, a...

We stayed here for 6 nights. The staff was friendly and very helpful with any and all questions we had. Their recommendations were helpful and accurate. We stayed in the deluxe room overlooking the beach. The kitchenette was helpful for our extended stay. We rented a car which stayed in their garage every night. We ordered an extra bed and it wasn't just a cot, it was a twin bed.
The rooms were cleaned spotless every day. The breakfast included, had enough variety that we never tired of it all week. Great place to stay. Excellent accommodations!

Room Tip: The view was nice but we could also hear the road.

I stayed in this hotel for one night and it was a great experience. The hotel staff was very helpful, they arranged my dinner delivery and a taxi to take me to the airport, and had them charged to my room as I didn't have any more pesos. The room was large, almost a small apartment, with a kitchen area. The bed was comfortable and there was a large flat screen TV on the wall. The bathroom was modern with a glass door shower, which I much prefer to a shower curtain. The breakfast was a traditional Uruguayan breakfast and it was good. The view was beautiful, right on the water on the Rambla.

Spent three nights at the Regency Rambla last month. We were upgraded to a suite which was huge - kitchette, two TVs, and very comfortable bed. We also had a nice balcony, though the weather was a bit cold to use it. The hotel is away from the center - there is a bus that takes about 30 minutes to the center and the Carrasco neighborhood is about a 15-20 minute walk - plenty of restaurants, shops, and a supermarket. If you need to do work in the center, it may not be the best location, but we enjoyed it a lot.
