We really enjoyed staying here in Montevideo. The full desk staff are conversant in english, and seem to enjoy us trying our spanish (which has to be castillian here). I booked thru expedia, which i seldom do because they posted a 25% discount for weekends that did not appear on the hotel web site. when we got in they assigned us a quite small room with a double bed. i showed them where i booked a queen bed, they apologized and immediately gave us a good sized room (not large, but bigger and comfortable) with a king sized bed at the same price.
The included breakfast in the (good) second floor restaurant is just amazing. Eggs, quiche, cereals, sausage, and at least 10 types of breakfast sweet roll every day. The free bicycle use is a nice touch (27 speed), but you need to give them time to air up the tires. Our first room on the 4th floor, and final room on the 8th were very quiet for a city hotel. Easy walk to the Rambla (where we saw the Montevideo marathon) and beach, as well as an astounding shopping center with "mercado iglesia" (pretty close to a small walmart including groceries and fruits). The pool on the roof is oriented so that sun falls on it almost until sundown.More
