I liked the old-fashioned furniture and the nice and helpful staff. Rooms are big and most of them have a balcony. The hotel doesn`t serve breakfast, but I recommend you to go to La Pasiva, just around the corner in Plaza Independencia to enjoy an uruguayan breakfast: capuccino, medias lunas (croissants) with dulce de leche (caramel cream) and a tostado mixto (ham and cheese sandwich). For dinner I recommend you the Cafe Bacacay, in the Bacacay Street, 5 minutes walk from the hotel. It's a nice and casual place where you can enjoy a good meal for a resoneable price. Cakes are great. An by night you can just walk to the mitical Fun Fun Bar to enjoy tango, candombe or just uruguayan live music while drinking the typical uvita, a sweet wine based drink invented there by the founder of the bar.
