“Island Night show & dinner”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

Thursday's is Island night where you get a typical island style dinner and a great island dance floor show. It's easy to find and price is reasonable. View from the terrace is overlooking the sea.

“go to their island night! (thursdays)”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Just $5 gets you in to watch a traditional drum & dance show - cheapest performance on the island... Or, dish out the $35 and you get the show plus an amazing full-on dinner including some great local dishes! Marinated chicken, beef curry + rice, the BEST COCONUT RAW FISH salad on the island, yaro chips, fried bananas, fresh fruits, potatoe salad, cooked spinach, etc - more than you can eat!
Plus super tasty cocktails @ just $5
And did I mention? Fun locals, atmosphere, and super friendly professional service

“Friendly place with atmosphere”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

The Staircase was one of the stops during our "Raro by Nite" tour. It was just starting to get busy when we arrived. There was music playing and people dancing. The locals we met there were very friendly. We stayed for a beer and a dance.

“Not so friendly”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

This place was a bit run down and the food is disappointing. The show was good though and we wished we had eaten at Whatever Bar and turned up in time for just the show, good value at just $5.

“Try the island night!”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

One of the cheapest island nights (i.e. places to see local traditional dancing) - at just NZ$5 (without food - I think around $30 with meal; other places charge up to $90).

The show is performed by local children who learn their native dance in afterschool club - and your payment goes toward funding that, rather than into a private company.

It might lack the grandeur of the big island nights - but was still really fun, with great live music (from national competition winners!) and the feel-good factor of supporting the kids.

If you want a taster without forking out for the big island nights - this is the place to go.
