Where do you start! The staff where outstanding from AUNTY Kimmy who greeted us at the airport,to all the staff that worked at Sunset they were fantastic they remembered our names the wine we drank the beautiful grounds, the place is immaculate, everyone that was staying there all said the same some had returned year after year after staying at other resorts they all told us Sunset was the best on the island WE agree!!!! The restaurant was exceptional and was above our expectations can't fault the place The only disappointment was the noisy dogs and those pesky roosters we would stay on the water front next time ;) thank you for our first RARO outstanding stay WE WILL BE BACK ONE DAY

we arrived home last night from staying at Sunset resort for 7 nights, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The highlight for us was the amazing staff! They treated us like family! friendly, helpful, fun and made us feel so welcome. We will be back just to see them! they really made our holiday! Thanks so very much! keep up the great work. We will be back!

Room Tip: we went in a group of 18 so had 9 rooms, all were very similar, some over looking the pool, garden e...

I stayed at Sunset Resort from 1st Aug - 8th Aug.We were greeted by staff at Rarotonga airport who took our group back to the resort where we were welcomed by brilliant reception staff. Our room was on the second storey overlooking the main pool. The rooms were spacious with a great bathroom which were all well presented and clean.
The first evening our group of 18 went for dinner at the Resorts Anchorage bar/restaurant where we were looked after by the most brilliant staff in Dawn,Aunty P,Steph and Mary. These four professional ladies not only made us feel welcome but made us feel like Family. They are a credit to their Families, their Country and your Resort.
Down at the Drumbeat bar we were treated to cocktails by Turu who again showed fantastic people skills with his friendly nature.
I have made mention of 5 staff who made an impression on me but there is one more special mention and that is to the man whos name I can't remember but he transferred us from and to the airport, also was seen doing general duties around the Resort. He was quietly spoken but always made an effort to come say hello and ask how my day was, even went and got some coconuts for us to try fresh.

In saying all of this, there is not one member of staff I can fault, they are all tremendous.

This was my first visit to Rarotonga and it will not be last thanks largely by the impression these great people left on me.

Room Tip: When booking ask for what you require. This resort can cater for all with Beachfront rooms, quiter roo...

Our first comment was, its just like the brochure. The accommodation and surrounds were great. We made the most of the pools, beach, sea and restaurant. The resort was wonderfully clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and efficient. We found it hard to believe that the minimum wage on Rarotonga was $5.00 an hour, they sure work hard for their money.

We had lovely fresh fruit and toast each morning for breakfast. The Restaurant was clean and reasonably priced, any meal we had there was fabulous. We did take some food with us and cooked dinner 6 nights, it is great having this option when travelling as a family with teenagers.

As our daughter and I work in primary schools we appreciated the no under 12 restriction. There was a great mix of ages at the resort and everyone was very friendly.

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday, we saw a lot and learnt a lot about the locals, their customs and culture.

Thanks Sunset

Room Tip: We were happy with our room upstairs by the road. The road noise was about the same as at home and t...

Impeccably presented from reception rooms to restaurant to grounds to rooms and pools. You would have to be remarkably picky to find any fault in the way the Sunset Resort greets you.
For the most part the staff were very friendly, good conversationalists and diligent. The only let down we experienced was that some reception staff were either uninformed or just unhelpful. As an example, not knowing what the bus fares are and how they worked was unacceptable in such a high quality Resort.
Beware of the internet charge - it's about 6 times more expensive than many other resorts on the Island - $15 for 50mb vs $50 for 1,000mb elsewhere.
The Resort is an oasis of peace and tranquility, very conveniently situated to enable a first time visitor to the Island to get to the variety of activities the Island offers. We particularly appreciated the complimentary shuttle to and fro the Sunday church service - a must for everybody!

Room Tip: Our room was a garden/poolside room back from the road so no road noise. If you can handle the roar...

Kia Orana 2 Kiwis, thank you for posting your review on tripadvisor. It is lovely to read your stay with us was a truly pleasant one and we will be sure to pass on your comments to our housekeepers and gardeners as they do take pride in their work. We take on board your comments about the wi fi costs. While Wifi is an expensive commodity on the island we have been working on reducing the cost to our guests. Since your visit we have implemented a new rate structure.

We look forward to seeing you on our beautiful shores again.

Regards
Tim and Colleen Darby

We have just returned from a fantastic peaceful week at Sunset. We had a two bedroom unit closest to the road on the top floor. Very clean and modern room. Bedrooms are really big and the whole unit is spacious with two balconies. Bonus was a second bathroom which was handy when we had five of us in our unit. The only negative would be the noise from the dogs on the road barking but we were prepared with earplugs because we know this is part of the Rarotonga experience no matter where you stay. Friendly staff and comfortable beds. Loved that there was a single bed in the lounge for our fifth guest meaning we didn't have to have a fold out bed to tidy up every day. Our check in and out was easy and our room servicing daily was done to a really high standard and was very unobtrusive. Big thank you to the reception girls our housekeeping and all the staff at Sunset resort. Loved the two pools as the ocean wasn't behaving the week we were there.

Room Tip: If we returned we would go for the poolside rooms closer to the restaurant and away from the road st...
