“Awesome Party Hostel”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

I travel many places in the world, I slept in hundreds of hostels but it's difficult to find something like the Bamboo Backpackers in Nadi. First of all the incredible hospitality of the Fijian people is priceless: they are genuine, caring, always helpful and they really want you to enjoy your stay without trying to rip you off or to have something in return. The hostel is located in a strategic position, between the airport and Nadi Town. Wailoaloa beach is nice and offer a wonderful sunset. The cocktails served by the super funny Enrico (Rico) are awesome and cheap. The rooms are simple but you don't want to spend your time in a room in Fiji don't you?
Really recommended, especially for the different packages that you can buy for a very discounted price.

Bulaaaa!!

Friendly and very friendly staff that manage to remember your name and make you feel at home. My room was clean, a female 6-bed dorm with shared bathroom at a good rate. There are two cozy restaurants with tasty dinner choices and a nice bar with a pool table. And if you want, you can also meet peoply at the cava and music session in the evening. I had a very good time there!

We stayed in bamboo for three nights upon arriving in Fiji. Everyone was rather friendly, accommodation was basic but adequate for the price paid. We had a lovely stay and the people made the stay for us. Good stop before going to the islands. However, we were rather angered and upset to find out that we had been left out of pocket when booking our yasawa island trip through them. We booked the whole trip with them and when we reached our first island we were told that we had been over charged by bamboo and they had taken more commission than what they should have. Luckily the island were honest and charged us accordingly. They called bamboo to ask them to give us some of the deposit back but we have had nothing. Not a refund or any correspondence. It was £60 that we were out of pocket. So I would recommend doing research before and double check everything. We are grieved that there has been no apology or recompensed for it.

Bula Vinaka. Thanks for the sweet comments and our sincere apologies about the confusion that you encountered on your Yasawa trip. Our island reservations team always strive to do their best to create and recommend awesome Fiji trips for budget travellers and are distressed to hear that your island plan was less than perfect.

We have just finished a staff meeting to discuss your feedback and are relieved to discover that no mistake has been made by the Bamboo team. After speaking with the Manager of the Yasawa resort in question, they have acknowledged that the issue was handled incorrectly by their check-in team and that the Bamboo island reservations team have provided the correct resort info at the correct resort price, as instructed when we called them to confirm the reservation. The Front Desk Staff at the Yasawa Resort take full responsibility for the misinformation and subsequent confusion and anger. For this they are offer humble apologies to you and also to us that the situation has reflected poorly on our Bamboo team. They welcome you to call the manager directly for further details. We regret that this problem has occurred in a resort that we recommended and will take this into consideration for our future resort recommendations.

Our island reservations team are all lovely, honest and caring people and are genuinely concerned that your trip was less than perfect. We warmly welcome you to return to our spot and enjoy all the wonderful Fiji way of life... and we assure you that we will do all we can to ensure that this situation is not repeated into the future.

Vinaka and cheers and happy travels,

The Bamboo Tribe

It was my first time to Fiji and thank god for Bamboo as I had the most memorable experiences with them. Their hostel was from the start 'the place to go & stay', the crowd was young, the energy was high, the staff were capable & friendly. The dorms were clean and kept clean daily. They have a daily activities board to help with boredom (which is rare but it helps you immerse in the Fijian culture) they also offer the best off the beaten track tours - I booked a tour 'the North Fiji backpacker adventure'! (This was a bargain for 5 days with activities & meals included - two nights on Taveuni & three nights on Qamea). Landing in Taveuni the North island also known as the garden island - it was paradise, natural water slides, waterfalls, snorkelling, kayaking, village ceremony all within the first 24 hours. WOW! Even the people I met at the lodge I was booked into have become friends for life. Moving onto Qamea - well that is to be described as Eden. Completely settled on the beach in shared bungalows, one main house/open sand bar, reef in front, surf a 1 km out - blissed out R&R! All of the staff at Bamboo are commendable. They are the most hospitable people I have ever met, was never a complaint always laughter, accommodating and resourceful and always willing to teach you their ways or wisdom of the land & sea. I can and have recommended this place to so many friends & family. You will find what you need at Bamboo!

Room Tip: The dorms are cheap but you must know that in the area there is a low pressure water system - hot wa...

i have been to fiji 3 times and have always chose to stay here. The staff and atmosphere is amazing. its a great place to use as a base to plan your holiday. the rooms and sheets are always clean. the staff are really friendly and are genuinely interested in getting to know you. you will definately make friends for life and it will feel like your home in fiji.

If you stay here you must visit their sister hostels up in the north islands of Qamea and Taveuni. These islands are hidden gems that are definately off the tourist trail. depending on how u plan it, it is very cheap in comparison to other tourist trail tours and value for money. The activities are awesome which include visting amazing waterfalls, village visits, snorkelling, natural waterslides and loads of other optional activities like surfing, diving, kayaking etc. the highlight of this trip is getting the chance to visit nanuku, which is a little tiny island off Qamea. It is seriously ultimate paradise. it is uninhabited with the whitest sand and the bluest water with a little tiny jungle. best snorkeling ive ever done. ive been up to these north islands 4 times and its the people and amazing staff that keep me coming back. i have made a second family here and there are loads of people i know from around the world who do what i do and keep coming back.

i cannot recommend this place enough to people who are looking for the ultimate holiday in fiji
