“Nice for an overnight stay”

We stayed here because we found a fantastic rate on hotels.co.nz (about $83 NZ including breakfast), and we were looking for a hotel that was close to the airport and had an airport shuttle, as we arrived into Nadi on AirPacific at around 11pm.

INITIAL DISAPPOINTMENT
Prior to coming, I emailed to check that an airport shuttle could be there to pick us up, and also enquired regarding the schedule for buses departing for Pacific Harbour the next day. To my disappointment, I found out that they do not normally operate the shuttle for flights after 10pm, and I was also asked to contact the bus company directly regarding schedules. At this point in time, I was not expecting much with regards to customer service, however, my experience once I got to Fiji and talked to staff in person was quite different.

PLEASANT SURPRISES
Our flight into Nadi ended up arriving at midnight, an hour late. A positive aspect to this was that Timothy (or Timocei - I couldn't quite read his name tag) from Novotel waited at the airport for us due to the late arrival and drove us to the Novotel, thus saving us the hassle of trying to get a taxi (apparantly some Nadi taxi drivers in the past have had a dodgy reputation of overcharging, so ask for a quote first, and check that the meter's running. However, we didn't have any negative experience when we took a taxi from Nadi airport on another occassion).

Upon arrival at the Novotel, I was surprised by the open air lobby, I guess due to the temperatures in Fiji, not many of the hotels or resorts we visited had doors at the entrance, which gave a different "vibe" to most hotels I've been to. We booked in with little hassle, and were pleasantly surprised by a free upgrade to a deluxe room overlooking the golf course. When we enquired about buses for the following day, we were told the times (7.30am and 1pm) of the Coral Sun express bus (which stops by at the resort to pick you up) and whom to contact regarding this the next morning.

Timothy then kindly took our bags to our room, and joked with us about how "cold" it was for them during this time of year, while we were hoping to get to an air conditioned room to cool it down a couple of degrees. It was nice to meet a purser who seemed so sincere, and made us feel a bit more at home by using our names rather than just a title like sir or madam.

THE ROOM
The deluxe rooms feel big due to the high ceilings, however, the floor area probably wasn't that big. The rooms looked like they had been done up recently with a modern layout making good use of space which gave an outdoor feel indoors with the use of some wooden blinds where there would normally be a wall, which allowed light through the whole room. The superking size bed was also nice and spacious, and the decor was pleasant.

BREAKFAST
The following morning we booked our bus and then went to have breakfast. We had a bit of a late breakfast, which may have affected what was on offer. Some of the dishes had lost their appeal (particularly the scrambled egg) as it looked like they had been in the warmers for a while, and some of the more popular dishes were running relatively low. However, there were still a few other items which I had a second round of.

KILLING TIME
After breakfast we walked around a little bit for about ten minutes, walking by the activities bure with tennis rackets, table tennis bats and some other gear for a couple of other activities, then walked along the perimeter of some of the golf course, coming back towards the pool (which I believe was open 24 hours). On the one hand, the pool is partially shaded by a big tree, making it nice for those wanting to escape the heat a little, however, at this time of year, some of the leaves were falling into the pool.

We didn't have much else to do at the Novotel before our 1pm bus, so we checked out and stored our luggage and took a tour to the garden of the sleeping giant (which we thought was ok, but as we are from NZ we were hoping for a little more, plus because we used a taxi, it cost more for the taxi than it did for the tickets to get into the garden) before returning before 1pm to be picked up by the bus.

CONCLUSION
Overall, it was an experience that exceeded expectations, partially as expectations were lowered slightly at the start, and we got great value for money due to the cheap deal through hotels.co.nz, the weakened Fiji dollar, as well as the free-upgrade.

If we returned to Fiji and needed a place to stay overnight, we would strongly consider staying at Novotel Nadi again as a comfortable place to either begin or end our time in Fiji.

I spent two nights at the Novotel Nadi. Room and staff were fine. I regularly travel abroad and one of the few pleasures I take from this is the Hotel buffet breakfast. Firstly it was not included in the $179 a night room fee. Once paying the $27.50 I was disappointed to find uncooked bacon (it needs moe than about 10 seconds in a frypan), uncooked sausages (still pink inside), cold / soggy hash browns. When I refused to eat any of it and asked for my money back I was told a polite 'no' and informed there were cold food options. Luckily for me I went past the Mcdonalds at Nadi on the way to my meeting. The foord there was cooked. Unfortunately for this Hotel I need to submit a report after each overseas trip that includes a reccomendation to the travel company about continued use of the Hotel. I cannot reccomend we use this Hotel again. Sorry.

close to airport, had a room with views of thehills and out to sea. friendly staff good service. we had a car, so it was easy to get around. breakfast was "standard" 4 star fare, but well done all the same. Nice small pool area and again friendly staff.

Service lacked a bit - as most Accor hotels suffer from. Restaurant/bar good and rooms very good

This is the ideal hotel for a stop over. The good thing is that has the novotel name/brand so you well know that you are going to get good value. Good staff, nice rooms, lovely restaurant. It is worth to spend the extra money and stay here for 1 night or 2.

I stayed here overnight due to an early morning flight.

I had booked via hotels.com about 12 hours before showing up and they initially had some trouble finding my reservation but found it upon presentation of the booking number.

You can get excellent last minute rates for this property that some of the single room rates at backpacker lodges.

The rooms are modern and functional and there is great cable high seed broadband. The hotel is also very quiet despite its proximity to the airport..

Service was friendly and they have a well stocked convenience store open until 10 PM, even a New Zealand icecream and smoothy diary bar! The menu at the restaurant and food are decent but expensive and service was slow even though there weren't many people.

I'd stay here again.

We arrived late at night in Nadi and had a flight the next morning to an island, so we spent just a short night here but then returned again to wait for our connecting flight on the way back as it was so pleasant. The staff were wonderful and the hotel is very attractive considering it's essentially an airport hotel. The rooms were nice. AC worked well. They brought us a cot for the baby and the staff really fussed over her. The restaurant was good. Overall, great place!
