“Great for Stopover”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

We stayed here to break up our journey from Pacific Harbour to an early flight the next day. We stayed in room 201, which had two separate double beds, presumably a family room. We arrived in time for an evening meal , which was welcome, there were large portions and it was reasonably priced. The beds were a little firm but soon fell asleep. Breakfast was good and there is a shuttle bus to the airport just over the road. The facilities and furnishings are probably a bit tired and need refreshing but otherwise a good hotel friendly staff.

We stayed here the night before our transfer out to our Island resort and on the way home. On the way home we were upgraded as well which was a pleasant surprise. I found Raffles very clean and tidy with a fantastic pool. I really enjoyed my evening meals but found the breakfast was very basic but all you need. Also loved that it is so close to the airport.

We stay at least bi-annually at Raffles Gateway bookending our trips - both for the convenience and for the service and staff. The rooms are basic but of a consistent standard and I rate the beds very much higher than many of the Denarua Island resorts in terms of comfort & sleepability! This time around, the addition of a world-class gym was an added bonus. Is aircond, has views of the pool or the tennis court, treadmill, orbital crosstrainer, bike and weight stack as well as sufficient floor space to do your own yoga practice. Towels and filtered iced water provided - do need to BYO bottle or cup but that is a minor quibble.

Room Tip: ratings are based on comparison to other Fiji hotels and a decade of visits.

We stayed waiting for night flight from airport. Only took a short time to obtain at short notice. Room was small but airconditioning worked well, toiletries and coffee and tea were there no need to go looking for. The view was behind staff quarters and car park only grumble about accommodation. Restaurant was a little expensive but decor and set up was excellent. Pool was clean swam for a couple hours no problem. Very handy to airport. We paid local price because husband was from Fiji, good to take advantage as you could enoy a couple of days and be comfortable. I would go there again but would get an upper floor, larger room.

We stayed at Raffles for one night on our arrival and as a day stay on the return trip.
There was a concrete waterslide which was a major hit with the kids in our group (6 of them), very deep pools surrounding the waterslide which would be hard with young kids. Coming home the kids were really disappointed when the pools were all closed due to the thunderstorms.. we tried to wait it out, but they closed the pool for hours due to lightening risk.

Rooms were basic - we had a room on the ground floor. Bathrooms were smelly on both visits, but roomed appeared fairly clean. We stayed in ground floor rooms - I think one was 102 (right next to the pool) and the other was 502. Wer had a booking (on both occasions) for 2 adults and 2 kids but on both occasions were put in a room with 2 double beds.

Aircon in rooms was very average and not very powerful. Still, it did work.

Noise levels (planes) wasn't anywhere near as bad as I feared.

Food at the restaurant was ok, nothing special at all, but passable.

Staff - they really didn't seem to care for their guests, were not approachable or particularly friendly. Service was below average. They didn't respond to my booking requests prior to arrival, no smile or assistance at check in, food at the restaurant delayed/incorrect/had to ask 2 or 3 times for things to be brought.

All in all, I would stay here only for the waterslide and would very likely choose a different hotel and pay more next visit.

Room Tip: Both rooms we had were average

We reserved a day room several weeks ahead of time. The online reservation and payment process went smooth. The room was ready when we arrived. It was clean and comfortable.

The provided transport from Raffles to Nadi Airport was very prompt.

We were happy with the experience.

We stayed here for two nights in transit from New Zealand to the United States and it was a perfect stay. Rooms are very comfortable and have refreshments as you would expect. We stayed in room 104 which overlooked the pool. This made it really easy to go from our room to have a swim and relax on the sunloungers. There is also a small gym adjacent to the pool. We ate our meals in the hotel and the food was very good. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. They were really helpful too when we asked to extend our stay as our flight was a night flight. We had to pay extra for this but it was good value and meant our last day there was really good. The hotel is a short walk from the airport but Raffles provides a courtesy coach so there is no need to struggle with luggage. Altogether a lovely short visit to Fiji.
