We stayed at the Intercontinental for 4 days and had breakfast at Navo each morning. We were served by Lusi each day and she always greeted us with a friendly smile. She was a joy to have serving us. Nothing was a problem and she was extremely friendly. Each day was the same. Always very pleasant. She made our experience very special. Thank you Lusi.

We only had the pleasure of enjoying the buffet breakfast here each morning, as part of our package deal, but it was a great and was an ideal place to start the day.
Continental breakfast was satisfactory, fresh fruit and cereals Could look to mix it up a bit though (selection of pastries or other items etc) as it was exactly the same each day though. More choices available at Sanasana (but understandable given this was the main buffet restaurant).

The Hot meals, made to order, were really tasty - nice presentation and good portion size.
Stunning views from the restaurant, very relaxing, especially being away from the noise of family and children.
Lovely staff, very friendly once they got to know you. Could be a bit more forthcoming to new guests to explain options on your first day (that you can offer coffees etc) but once you got into the swing it was great.
Special mention to Lucy, Nate, Iva and Jona - thank you for your friendly smiles and service.

We took our beautiful nanny with us for dinner to this beautiful restaurant to say thank you for her caring for our children. The restaurant had an event in there on that night but they accommodated us and set up a bure outside with private butler. The food, drinks, service and the company was amazing!

Nice dining area but to be completely honest we have had far better meals in the toba area. Beef cheeks three tiny mouthfuls that were nice & tender but tasteless on a like cheesy mash. The other entree was kokoda a lime & coconut sauce with lobster bits in it. Wow Ive heard of bite size pieces but this was small pea size pieces swamped in sauce you had to scrap for something in it!!! Mains were 1/10. Crayfish raviolo. 4 pieces of Ravioli swimming in a bowl of tasteless cream. Just disgusting, no flavour anywhere & the other main we had panfried snapper so overcooked & ruined!!!! We ate, when asked did we enjoy our meal we replied not really unfortunately we were disappointed and explained why. The waitress said Im sorry about that walked off bought our bill
not even a complimentary coffee but we dont expect anything for nothing just good food & service for top dollar & this was very poor.

This was not a good night for Navo. Acknowledging that can happen to the best, our view however is that there are a number of fundamental flaws with the Navo restaurant product.
Starting with the 'check in process'. Yes Navo has a 'check in process', We arrived at the front desk ex the IC Club with another couple and daughter. And then it started. Confusion with room numbers resulted in us being shown to an adjoining couch area. This is a couched holding pen not a cocktail bar or such. After two more enquiries as to our room number, we were shown to a table at the far or island end. The table was set with woven place mats that had seen many meals and it is suspected never water, at least intentionally. Ours were so grotty we asked if there were clean ones. Presto they were exchanged for the adjoining table.Fine dining usually includes a tablecloth, and it does at this restaurants regional competitors as we found when we subsequently dined outside Intercontinental [e.g. TA #1 ]. Linen. Even dansk.
We had four different staff members serve us over our two courses. From two appetisers coming to our table to an entre being presented [ lobster bisque ] with no explanation, it resulted in nobody taking ownership of our dining experience.Fundamental management.
The entre came with a Chinese style ceramic spoon with a pale circular matter on it, an opaque broth with a oblique shaped furry object with a stick which rather looked like a tropical fruit. Turns out that the spoon had a lobster mash on it and that the fruit like object was deep fried coated lobster concoction, both of which should have been added to the broth as it was non descript at best in the absence of us adding these to the broth. An introduction to the chef's design of the dish may well have saved it.
The Mahi Mahi was perfectly cooked and well presented with a nicely textured quality mash.
The curry prawns were unmistakably,at first bite, of the frozen variety. Small to medium, of very, very poor texture and tasteless. There was a prawn head sticking out of the dish, but alas it was of a size and appearance where the body had gone elsewhere.
I haven't mentioned the mosquitos. Lots of them. Hungry little blood suckers they were.
We decided to skip desert and waited and waited for some post mains attention. The girl in our end of the restaurant walked past our completed mains to clean the adjoining empty table, then returned to clear the vacated one behind. Fine dining experience at an end, we got up and proceeded to the to the cashier desk. Action at the ranch - interception with an athleticism not previously witnessed. Don't try and get out of there until the staff are good and ready.......
