Friendly, helpful and pleasant staff. Both the butler and the room cleaner were fantastic and the hotel itself was very clean and we stayed in a two bedroom family suite which was excellent very roomy, comfortable and in a good location. We travelled with two young children and they had a great time. The Kids Club we did not use a lot as we tend to stay together as a family but when the kids did use it they thought it was great and loved the staff. As with previous reviews the food was OK not great but plenty on offer. The room service meals were disapointing we ate in three times due to tired children and it was hit, mediocre and poor. We found the beach to be fine, great for young kids with a bucket and spade and the pool area was very good with plenty of loungers and the children were safe to play. We arranged for the hotel car to collect us from and take us back to the airport and i would highly recommend this service. The River Safari is a must and was a great day out. Overall a fantastic holiday and a hotel we would definately return to. Many thanks to all of the staff for the happy memories

We recently returned from our holiday. The staff at the Outrigger were fantastic. Everyone
there would go out of their way to help you. The Ivi Restaurant is fabulous. The food & service is great.( If you do not have kids with you this is a great place to escape for breakfast. Very quiet & relaxed.)
While we were there my husband had an accident and the staff were wonderful.
They went out of their way to help us. Nothing was a problem to them. Thank you.

This was the first holiday I researched on Trip advisor and am compelled to write a review. We were lucky enough to stay in an Ocean Front Bure with our 7 and 10 year old daughter who rate this trip 100/100 If you can stretch to the Ocean Bure it is highly recommended as it made our holiday. We had a nice stretch of grass with proximity to 6 other Bure's and within minutes we met 3 other families who became instant friends and this was the icing on the cake for a great holiday.
The resort is spotlessly clean. The staff are super friendly and helpful. There is plenty of activities to keep the kids busy and excellent kids club. Great pool. The only unfortunate thing is the beach access if affected by the tide but this is a minor issue and would not stop me returning. Food is fine wiht good variety.
I note comments are soemtimes made about the service. While not a quick as we come to expect in a busy capitol city I would say it was just fine and the slighlty relaxed nature of the Fiji people is what makes them so endearing, we all just need to slow down a bit and enjoy the scenery. I happily recommend this to any family wanting a nice get away.
I might say we booked through Speciality Holidays with Georgina and she was very helpful and arranged all transfers and it was seamless. Also recommend getting the food package. FYI we stayed 4 night at the Sheraton Denaru before hand, while nice the Outrigger was far superior.

We chose to stay at the Outrigger with our 4 & 2 year old based on just about everyones recommendation that it was great for families and we will ABSOLUTELY return.

without writing a full review on everything, I wanted to share the highlights and recommendations on our experiences. If you want specific details, send me a message and I am happy to reply.

*Not all the bures are as beautiful as each other! ours had a landscaped little garden in front but the ones closer to the tennis courts didn't - they just had grass.
*meal vouchers are a real bargain. we did explore other restaurants close to the hotel but were happy with the hotels offerings.
*breakfast buffet is great and their is a free nanny in the adjacent bar to look after your little ones if they are bored.
*Seafood, Pacific and Fijian nights were good buffets but we didn't like Mexican, Italian or Indian nights. A keen eye will notice some of the evenings food recycled onto the next days breakfast buffet. Food is always tasty, but I was sick one full day due to a bad oyster on seafood night.
*Kids eating with kids club can order a la carte when you drop them off in the morning or from the kids buffet, which they love!
*Meimei or nanny service is awesome and a very reasonable price. They can work a 9am-5pm shift, or split shifts if you have plans for the evening. You buy the service in 4 day blocks and then arrange each day what time you would like to meet them and where. They are in high demand so we booked 8 days to make sure we had the same meimei for the entire stay. Our kids instantly loved her and on the last day they gave both children a lovely gift each. Just be careful as when we checked in they tried to sell us the more expensive babysitting service, but I think this was because the meimei is a new offering.
*Tennis and golf competitions are a lot of fun. They cost FJD$18.50 to enter but you get a free hotel shirt and if you win the prizes of island tours are great.
*Buy anything at the coffee shop and they give you a voucher for that day to use their internet for 20 minutes.
*Hotel sponsors a local champion rugby union team, the Stallions and for FJD$60 they will take you to the game and include 3 drinks in the marquee. A great way to meet other guests and experience the Fijian love of this game. I met some hotel staff, including the General Manager who were all really passionate about their work.
*Laundry facility is great for a longer stay, where you can do your own washing for FJD$3 per load.
*General landscaping of the resort is immaculate - no falling coconuts to watch out for here!
*For rooms that have access to the Talai service, the butlers will check-in with you each night and bring a 5pm champagne and canape and then 9pm nightcap and desert to your room. One night this didn't arrive but they apologised the next day and do also provide you with a daily personalised note to explain a little about their warm culture, and activities and weather for the next day. The only thing they couldn't help with was very noisy music from a wedding reception on a Saturday night but we did sleep soundly in the end - beds are incredibly comfortable.
*Ivy restaurant is a MUST. Such beautiful cuisine and service. If you are on a meal plan it costs FJD$25pp extra, plus drinks. They don't allow children but with managers approval you can dine in the adjoining coffee shop with your children and they will serve you the Ivy menu, excluding any dishes prepared tableside (Kokoda, Caesar Salad...).
*Make sure you let the staff know when it's your last day/night at the resort and they will sing you the lovely "Isa Lei" song as a farewell.
*Check your bill thoroughly on check out! - We found a few randomn charges to the value of about FJD$150 which the staff at front desk graciously removed.

We stayed at the Outrigger at Fiji for 10 days and they have a new nanny service for FJD 60 a day ( min 4 days) for eight hours, it was brilliant. Our nanny Aggie was so kind and wonderful we wanted to take her home. THe service at the outrigger is outstanding with their head butler Koroi going the extra mile on all occasions.

The Outrigger is fine if you want a laid back, short getaway with your kids.

Our rooms were interconnecting and perfectly adequate. Good sized TV, comfy bed, ok mini bar, two bottles of water provided every evening, good sized bathroom with separate loo and great, fluffy white towels (and plenty of them). The wardrobe had plenty of hangers, robes, a safe, ironing stuff and a hair dryer that had some guts.

The food was pretty good - much much better than a previous visit to Fiji 10 years earlier. The hotel has a pizza by the beach restaurant which was pretty good, a huge buffet restaurant which is good for breaky but pretty scary at night with all the little kids running around - we are beyond that now with teens so avoided it. The posh restaurant - Ivi, was really pretty good - I was impressed - BUT, it wasn't cheap. A significant mark up on the wines and the seafood (scallops and lobster) had been frozen but then dealt with quite well. The Asian restaurant by the pool was ok. I think if I was there for longer than 5 or 6 days I would be needing more variety in the food line but then I am very pernickty about food and not everybody would agree with this.

The staff were warm and friendly but you need to understand that in Fiji, everything is done on "Fiji time". That sounds fun and great for relaxing but actually isn't if you need your internet access to be working properly!

The Outrigger is pretty well maintained - you don't see a lot of things requiring maintenance, and if you do it is probably being worked on. The gym was pretty good - more than many hotels I have been to all over the world with plenty of cardio machines, some weight machines and plenty of floor space for yoga or stretching.

The spa was fantastic - way up on the hill with amazing views. I had a 2 hour package including a footbath, body scrub, wrap, mini facial and a massage. My therapist was excellent and talked when she needed to and was silent when I was being treated. An outdoor shower looking over the south pacific was spectacular and I was hard pressed to get out!!!!!! The spa experience was worth every cent and I would highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Outrigger for 3 nights and were gutted that we didnt have longer! this hotel is amazing. the staff are so friendly, you will be walking around the hotel and all you can hear is "BULA" from everyone. just from saying it puts a smile on your face. The staff go out of their way to make you happy and to ensure that your stay is a memorable one. Jona a poolside waiter was fantastic. He served us one our first day and after that he continued to serve us and always asked that we were ok and if there was anything he could do for us.

The Bebe spa is essential. its the most amazing place with stunning views. The staff are all trained well with excellent experties. Me and my partner had the 'time together' treatment which was worth every penny and more.

There are plenty of places to eat with lots of choices. we only had the breakfast package but didnt think the meals were too badly priced. You just have to remember you are in a 5 star resort! the buffet evening meal was 60FD which was about £25. can't grumble at that. Breakfast was good with lots of choices although i can imagine if you are there for a long time it could become quite repetitive. The pizza place is a must! the pizza's are out of this world!!

Unfortunantly we were there as the sustralian school holidays started so there were kids everywhere. this didn't bother us too much although if you went for a romantic chilled holiday you werent going to get this. So make sure you check school hols before booking if you want romantic chilled hoilday.

If i had to moan about one thing it would be the fact that during busy time you can't have a late check out. we werent being picked up from the hotel till 5.30, it was raining so no where for us to go once checked out. we were able to leave our luggage but had to sit around in reeption for most the day and if you required a shower you had to walk over to gym. i think it would be a good idea to set one room a side for all late check outs. this room could be used as a shower room and tv room if wet weather. there were a few people in the same boat as us.

Otherwise this hotel is fantastic. it lives up to its 5 stars for sure.

thank you to everyone at Outrigger on the Lagoon.

It is only through your valuable comments that we can continue to improve our product and service for you our valued guest. I will pass on your comments to our team and share your experience. I am delighted to note that your comments in which you praise the efficiency of our team work and excellent hospitality of our staff. Also, I was glad to know that our resort amenities and service exceeded your expectations! School holiday periods are a popular time at the resort for families however if you are able to travel outside school holidays you may find it is predominantly couples not families. Thank you recommending our Bebe Day Spa, we certainly do pride ourselves in offering Fiji’s finest Spa facility. I look forward to passing your feedback onto the team.

Thank you once again for taking the time to write the review and we look forward in welcoming you back to the Outrigger ‘Vuvale’ (family).
