This was our second stay and it was just a wonderful as we remembered. Yes it's not a couple style resort (in my opinion) but if you have kids it's just fantastic. Our 11 year old still loved the kids club and he was most of the time the oldest there. However they accomodated him and took him fishing and off doing other fun stuff. He could not wait to leave us a go back. The food has improved from 18 months ago and after hearing the changes they have coming up, I am sure it will continue to get even better. A big Bula to Jason the new Manager there. He is doing a great job. He was visible and went around talking to guests and getting views and it was great to see. The Talai Butlers were excellent again and a great big Bula to Jerry in the Cocktail Lounge. He really felt like an old friend by the end of 9 days. The New Years Eve party for the kids was just fantastic and they were so excitied to see in the new year.
If you have kids definately stay here for a while!!

Dear Whitsholiday
We are delighted that you and the family enjoyed coming back to Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji.
Our team were absolutely thrilled to catch up with you again! One thing I have noticed in Fiji – the locals may forget to put the beetroot on your burger but they never forget a name or a face!
Our philosophy at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji is to continue to develop our overall product and service, and to this end we were pleased that you noticed all of the changes that we have made. This year we intend to introduce a Char Grill dining concept!
We are blessed to have Jason join our team! He passes on his best regards as does Jerry!
Once again, we thank you for taking the time to provide comment on your holiday experience! We look forward to welcoming you back to the resort in the not too distant future!

We enjoyed the excellent hospitality at this resort over our five-night stay. The staff were friendly and happy to offer whatever was required. We stayed in an ocean-breeze bure but would have loved a beach-front bure if they offered twin beds - a pity. We have only a couple of complaints. The distance from the airport on a road in shocking condition was disappointing late at night (midnight on checkin), after almost two hours clearing Customs/Immigration (which really needs an efficiency review). Also, the number of screaming children at the pool all day was overwhelming so we didn't use it. Organised pool activities created a lot of noise. As a couple we never usually travel at Christmas and we were reminded why. Australian children in the dining areas behaved shamefully, especially at breakfast when they ran around eating and screaming rather than sitting at tables. Some even put their feet on the breakfast tables and parents allowed it. The polite Fijians must be horrified at the behaviour of those guests. We also made the mistake of flying out at 9am and were surprised to find that Air Pacific requires a pre-flight checkin of three hours at the Fiji end, requiring us to leave the hotel at 4.30am. Of course, much of that is out of the control of the hotel, but it IS in an isolated location.

Dear JOLEE_2
We are delighted that you enjoyed the “excellent hospitality” provided by our team! We pride ourselves at Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji as being the number one resort in Fiji and more importantly providing a unique Fijian experience!
We must apologise for the current state of the roads! Fiji has experienced an enormous amount of rain over the past 3 months and unfortunately there are quite a few pot holes. The government has plans to repair the roads as quickly as possible! Whilst it normally takes about 1 hour to get to the resort from the airport, it is worth it when you arrive on the Coral Coast and Outrigger on the Lagoon . Fiji and receive the biggest “Bula” in all of Fiji!
We note your comments in relation to the number of children at the resort. Unfortunately the dates of your stay coincided with the Australian Summer school holidays, hence the reason for the number of children. We sincerely apologise that this had an impact on your holiday! Once again, we thank you for taking the time to provide comment on your holiday experience!

The wonderful welcome Bula, was most welcome at the end of our flight. The hotel staff are so helpful and friendly there service really makes this a special place. The food is great and plentyful. By upgrading our room we also got a spa voucher and I tried one of the cocoon treatments which was absolutely wonderful. Thank you all at the outrigger for making the end of our touring holiday so special.

its a perfect resort for kids but not worth the $$ if you don't have any. The kids take over the pool area from 10am-5pm. I read the reviews and thought it wouldn't be an issue but it really does get annoying. My biggest complaint besides the amount of kids is that there is no other option for breakfast besides a buffet. This is inexcusable for a resort of this size and untrue star rating. The only options for breakfast is a large buffet or room service.

The rooms are nice for the most part.
The beach area is nice and remarkably not crowded like the rest of the resort but it is shallow and almost non existent at low tide.

Breakfast with an actual menu and dinner at the bedarra beach inn down the street was good.
The pizza at the outrigger by the beach was surprisingly thin and very good.
Le Cafe down the street has cheap beer and good apps if you want to get away from the outrigger.

Shark diving with Beqa Adventure Divers was amazing but you do have to drive an hour to get to it by either renting a car(which is what we did from the hotel) or take a taxi. We didnt book in advance and almost didnt get to do this which made the trip.

Just thought to pass my thoughts on as i have valued the feedback from this website in deciding on where to take my holidays. We stayed at the Outrigger for 8 days, 2 days at The Radisson and 5 Nights at Castaway Island.

Upon arrival we were given our family 2 bedroom suite which we checked in promptly. Once we entered the room there was a musty odour that lingered in the room. We stayed one night and couldnt put up with it any longer as we were going to be there for another week. We decided to take up there offer of upgrading to 2 x beachfront bures (as we have 5 in the family) which were in a fantastic location, and had plenty of space for the family. The bure had a talai butler service that offered us champagne and tapas each evening. This was a fantastic touch and we found Miri and especially Zac to be outstanding. They both are a real credit to your resort.
The food was a big disappointment. The first night we arrived was the seafood buffet. Service from the waitress was poor but to the managers credit he noticed this and made sure we were attended to and not neglected. I picked up a stomach bug which kept me low until the antibiotics kicked in. The second night my daughter got food poisoning and was throwing up all night. The 4th night we went to the sundowner bar for pizzas. My wife ordered salad which had off tomato's throughout and unbelievably heavy handed on the dressing. Look i could normally eat anything but the food was a major let down.
The service as a whole was not too bad but there were a few staff members that you could clearly see did not want to be there. A few of the sundowner bar staff were rude and a couple from the baravi restaurant staff were as well. Not just with us but other patrons as well.
Other negatives was we found the location a bit isolated, cockroaches throughout the rooms and during the end of our stay we watched in shock as two blokes were involved in a heated yelling match which nearly led to a fight in front of children. ( as this resort is more affordable than others it can bring in a few drop kicks).
Overall the stay was not to what we hoped and we were disappointed but there were some fantastic features such as the Bebe spa, Zac & Miri talai service.

Dear Horseking
Thank you for your recent comments on trip advisor!
We have noted your comments in relation to the musty smell on arrival into your Plantation Family Bure – We apologise for this occurrence! We have addressed this issue with our housekeeping team! We were delighted to learn that you enjoyed the Beachfront Bures. We are currently looking into your comments regarding cockroaches in your room. Your commentary was the first time that we have heard of this occurrence! Obviously we take these comments seriously.
We must also apologise for the poor standard of cuisine and average service from our food and beverage team. I have had a lengthy discussion with our food and beverage manager and our Executive Chef on these issues. We take your comments seriously and I assure you that appropriate action has been taken. I assure you that we have no recorded instances of food poisoning but I have noted at times that international travelers do get a tummy bug from drinking the local water!
We are thrilled that you had the opportunity to experience our Bebe Spa and also our unique Talai “butler” service. Our Bebe Spa is rated as the best spa in Oceania.

Bula!!! Off we set on our Christmas 2010 adventure. My other half is not the type that likes to go on holidays & relax at the beach or pool, the 17 year old usually is happiest following daddy around at a breakneck speed, so this was to be challenging for me to pick the right place for a 7 day chill out. Private transfers are a must if you are staying on the Coral Coast (I learnt that 30 years ago when I came to Fiji), & they were beautifully handed with Tour Managers Fiji who happily waited for us to grab some drinks before we set off on the hour & a bit road trip in comfort. On arrival at The Outrigger I was delighted that the guy at the security gate really does yell BULA as you pass through. The staff quickly unloaded our luggage as we were ushered through to the reception where there was iced tea & cool refreshing towels ready for us. On check in we were offered an upgrade to a bure with a 200FJD spa credit, which we declined as I had booked a deluxe ocean view room, unfortunately it had a king bed & a sofa bed, but the 17 year old nodded & went off to find out about the internet deal she could see at the coffee shop. We were also offered at that point an orientation of the resort which in hindsight we should have taken because this place in set on 40 acres & you will get lost. Off to our room & we were quite taken back at the magnificent view from the room & balcony, we were in 814. The room itself was really good, very clean, nicely decorated, plenty of hanging space, bathroom with all the amenities, 4 bath towels, 4 pool towels & a butler who was delivering glasses of champagne with canapés, nice touch! We ate at the Sundower that night & the food was fine. The deal I booked included buffet breakfast, therefore it wasn't really economical for us have a food plan, therefore during the week we ate at the Sundower, Baravi, Vale ni Kana, had poolside service & also room service which all was fine, my only thoughts would be to have a basic (steak, pasta etc) a la carte menu for dinner in the Vale ni Kana restaurant along with the theme night buffet. After the first morning us 'olds' realised the trek back to our room from the pool was going to be tiresome so I went to enquire whether we could take up the upgrade offer from yesterday, the lady at reception was so helpful & was able to accommodate us with 2 double beds in bure 449 from that night on, our luggage was taken over for us, & our new butlers Jonetani & Aseri spoiled us at every opportunity, nothing was too much trouble. On one occasion we had an problem with the fan on the airconditioing, a maintenance man came within about 5 minutes, took the remote away & came back with it fixed in about 10 minutes, not bad for 9.30pm. One issue with the bure is that it is a big room with a partitioned section which is the bathroom & then off that the wc, if you like privacy this could be a problem, otherwise the bure setup is fantastic, with its hammock on the veranda, I found it was a good place for a quiet read. The rush around other half & 17 year old, finally learnt that if you lay on a sun chair in a place as magical as this you will learn to like it, they both loved it & we were so lucky with the weather as it is the rainy season & we really only had 1 day that was like that & it happened to be the day they went on the Sigatoka River Safari which other half booked at the tour desk. The final day rolled around & other half used the spa voucher for a massage to put a really nice end on it. Early morning wake up for our trip back to Nadi & our wonderful driver was again not rushing me as of course I was late getting to the reception, it was 4.40am on New Years Day. Over the years we have stayed at some really top hotels in the USA, Europe & Asia, but this will be one of our favourites. Vinaka for a wonderful holiday.

We loved outrigger on the lagoon, we stayed for 5 nights, and found the staff wonderfully friendly, and always smiling. The room (840) was an ocean view room, had the best view, and was quiet most of the time. The only disapointing thing about the room was the shower in the bathtub, not my opinion of 4.5-5 star property. Other than that, out talei butler was awesome, maids were all lovely even when my son got sunburnt, she got aloe vera stuff from her bag for him! Food was ok, we did eat up the beach at Le Cafe even though the hotel discourages it. We loved that experience. Pool was beautiful, I just thought it needed a shady area. Bebe spa was nice.
