I have stayed their twice and enjoyed both visits ok it's not five star but the staff and surrounding locals make up for it we visited the market and got a great deal on a goat which we thought would make a nice present for the local kids.... got invited to dinner 2 nights and the rest is history. made Kava from scratch with the locals but needed to be helped home afterwards I think it was all that hard work pounding up the roots If your their when the fire dancing is on then it's a must but don't worry if it rains it just turns into a great sing song and ANOTHER kava night.

Room Tip: Enjoy the locals their great but don't buy a goat unless you enjoy curry

We stayed at this resort late April to early May 2014. 2 adults and 2 children aged 4, 14 and 15. This was our second stay and it did not disappoint. What a lovely relaxing resort. We stayed in a ocean view and had a lovely view. Rooms clean although could do with an upgrade but still comfortable and food nice. Staff friendly and very helpful and great activities for the kids the beach is lovely and clean. This is a must stay hotel.

I can not emphasise enough what an excellent time myself and my family (Mum,Dad, master 11 and miss 14) had. The food, entertainment and facilities at the Hideaway were perfect. And the staff were so friendly, welcoming, kind, helpful & fun. We will be visiting the Hideaway regularly from now on. I give the Hideaway 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.

This place is just fantastic. Our family of 6 had the best time. The staff of the whole resort from the cleaning ladies to the management are just focused on providing you with a tremendous experience.

Some fact we traveled with 4 children aged 7, 3,2 and 1 we had two side by side bures.

The resort is not 5 star, but is very well maintained, the food is good and ample, again not five star but more then adequate. We had a food inclusive package and together with our $500 room credit did not spend an additional cents except for babysitters and cot hire.

It is the staff that make this place so special, the more you give the more you receive, it is nearly impossible to put into words how fantastic the staff are and how it creates an amazing holiday experience.

The comments below are for the practically minded traveler with children

1. It is total safe for kids
2. The staff and resort are totally focused on letting the kids enjoy themselves.
3. The babysitter are great.
4. The kids meals are not a real health option but certainly fill the kids up and they are more then happy with the selection of food available.
5. The long life milk is an issue if your kids are use to fresh milk.
6. With the pool and beach more than enough to keep the kids satisfied.
7. Kids club was excellent.
8. The staff love kids and encourage their involvement in activities (7 year old playing volley ball with adults no problem the staff make them feel welcome)

I will give a list of not so positive point, that in no way diminish how great this place truly is.
1. The mobile phone and wifi are not great, but it does mean you relax.
2. While well maintained the place is a little worn.

In short the best family holiday possible and it is thanks to the magnificent staff and management, cannot talk highly enough of the resort.

We recently booked a fun family holiday to Fiji Hideaway Resort through My Fiji. The resort holiday was amazing for the kids the staff really looked after them and the pools and water slides got lots of use. Hermits kids club was a hit. My Fiji organise everything really well and gave us a $500 credit to use at the resort... heaven for adults and kids!

Just returned from an amazing honeymoon at the Hideaway. I didn't want to leave! I'll do this in list form so it doesn't get long and rambly.

The good -
The rooms - Ours was right on the ocean front, spacious, and comfortable. It was kept very clean thanks to our lovely cleaning lady. A little worn at the edges, but very tidy.
The beach - Incredible clear water, perfect for snorklling!
The staff - Amazing. So friendly and helpful. A few of the restaurant staff were a little gruff at times but when you see them at breakfast, lunch, and dinner... They work horrible hours for probably very little pay so you need to keep this in mind and give them a break!
The food - We really liked the food, and found it to be reasonably priced. Breakfast was included with out room and was an amazing spread of pancakes, french toast, fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins, toast, and even an egg bar where you can order eggs anyway you like them. The only negative was that salt wasn't on the tables and the eggs were underseasoned. The dinner menu is extensive, and changes nightly. We weren't on an All Inclusive as we aren't big drinkers and it worked out to be bad value for us, so we could chose from the Ala Carte menu, which is bigger than the AI menu.
The service - We were given a complimentary bottle of bubbles and a fruit platter to celebrate our honeymoon. We were very touched by this gesture!

The bad -
The location was the only downside for me. It is ages away from anything. I recommend hopping a bus from outside the resort to Sigatoka for lunch. The bus is $2 each was, heaps of fun (it is sometimes a little grey van which we were wary of, but we lived to tell the tale), and you get to meet some locals.

Also, the ceiling fan was very noisy and woke me up a lot during the night.

I would also like to recommend that they are more upfront about the activities which cost money. We were unaware when we were invited to join the village tour as we walked past that there was a $10 charge, as it isn't stated anywhere. We were not asked to pay since we were invited along, we didn't opt to go as such, but it should be very clear when an activity will cost extra.

We returned to Hideaway after 10 years we were greeted at reception with a cool drink and checked in then taken to our bure 46 the same bure that we had on our previous visit the rooms are showing their age but are clean and comfortable the grounds and gardens are just beautiful as is the location and a credit to the hard working ground staff all the staff were friendly and helpful except for a couple in the restaurant that were a bit surely at times the food was ok but as stated in a previous revue a bit hit and miss and the buffets including breakfast not kept hot enough which was made up for by the drinks at the bar not being cold enough the cocktails were as good to look at as they were to drink, service at the resort was a little slow even for Fiji time and I put some of this down to the over worked bar staff especially at happy hour trying to make every drink look and taste just perfect . There have been some additions to the resort since our last visit with a new Spa and shopping area a pizza restaurant and snack bar near the pool but they do take away some of the space and view making it felt a little closed in and crowded around the pool at times. The activities crew tries very hard to keep everyone entertained and done a good job. We were on an all-inclusive package and found it good value as the resort prices for drinks and food was up towards the top end of Fiji pricing .This report reads a pit negative and I don’t really mean it to, this is a good resort and anyone who wants to join in will have a great time it’s just that it has the potential to be a great resort

Dave
