we stayed at the hideaway from the 15th Jan 11 till the 25th Jan11, WOW what a great relaxing holiday we are coming back same time next year, Elenoa ( restaurant), Siti ( welcome desk), Usana ( bar ) with us and to the other guest , meals where great and from the al la carte had Lobster 4 nights mmmm, yes some of the Burees were a little outdated but they are refurbishing them but very clean, John McFadden the manager of the resort was always mingling with the guest and open minded to any suggestions. We booked with My Fiji and took the package deal if you have the chance TAKE IT at the end of our 10 days we had a bill of $33 fjd for 2 of us how can you beat that.We are telling all our friends to stay at the Hideaway they wont be disappointed, will will be back. from Charlie and Sandra

The service at this resort is amazing. We did many tours around fiji, all you can book from this resort. Nice pool area. This resort seemed to be more for couples or for families. The only downside to this hotel is that your 1.5 hours away from Nadi, and for the island tours it makes it a long day to travel. If I was to come back, I would stay a few nights on an island and a few nights on the coral coast

This is the 7th time we have been to Hideaway, and we love it dearly, but a few incidents happened this time that made us a little disappointed. We love everything about Hideaway, but we were taken advantage of a couple of times by staff that we had grown to know and trust. Im sure it wont happen again, but if you are going on an excursion with the staff, make sure you pay the price that the reception desk tells you, not the "guide" in the car! I know that they dont get paid much but we have looked after them in the past and will continue to do so. We booked a Villa for the last 2 nights, but reception went and gave it away to someone else without telling us. We do hope to go back, but will be on our guard a little next time.

We have just spent Christmas and Newyear 2010 at Fiji Hideaway Resort. My husband and I, who are both in our early 50's thoroughly enjoyed our ten days at this resort. We both found the staff to be excellent and were very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble to any of them. The Christmas night dinner was fantastic with plenty of wonderful food as was the Newyears Eve dinner. The police band was highly entertaining and they kept playing and playing even though it was very hot for them. We had the all inclusive package and was very happy with this. There was always plenty of choices of meals to pick from, either from the specials menue or the ordinary menue. Could not fault the meals one bit. The only negative thing I could say was the drink service was a bit slow at times. We both found it very relaxing and enjoyed the resort not being too comercialised. Our bure was a bit tired but it was always well cleaned by the housekeeping staff. Some of the bures are being renovated so when it is all completed it should be much better.Overall we had a great time at the resort and would certainly be recommending it to our family and friends. Had a lovely time in the beautiful surroundings, with beautiful Figian staff, who looked after everything so superbly. The men who do the night patrols make you feel very safe.
Everyone should do the river jetboat safari up to a village, where you are made to feel very welcome and fed a beautiful meal by the very proud villagers. The children were delightful and so friendly. Make sure you take lollies and maybe some pencils or toys for the children, and a bit of cash, as they take a collection up for the villagers to buy school things and other necessities. They really put themselves out to let you feel part of their village for the short time you are there.
Great place to stay to relax and enjoy lots of snorkelling and, if you aren't into that, you can just walk the reef at low tide and look at the underwater world of the fish - if you can, take river shoes as it would make things a lot easier.
Meals are mostly Australian and normal Australian prices, but are just delicious.
Entertainment is provided every evening, and they run a wet weather programme for the wet season.
Will be back.

The staff at Hideaway are the best! Fijians are so friendly and their service is good. Food was good - must try the Ala Carte menu - excellent! Great value for money, spent less than we estimated. Rooms are good and air con was great. Good location nestled among many villages - you get a feel for real Fiji than if you were on one of the islands. Great snorkelling in the lagoon - better than what we found out on the island that we day-toured. Tour the local village and get a better appreciation for the fijian people and their way of life. Tours a little bit pricey but hey, you wouldn't do the same thing at home so be adventurous!

We've just returned from our 3rd stay at Hideaway. Once again, another fantastic holiday. My husband's luggage was lost at the airport, and the staff at Hideaway went out of their way to make sure it found us - and it did 24 hours later! Although the resort is no longer managed by Rydges, changes were not too noticable. The main changes were that the pool and bar are no longer 24 hours - which is a shame if you like a cooling midnight dip. We stayed for 2 weeks, and didn't eat the same thing twice - all our meals were delicious and couldn't be faulted. The breakfast chef, Faiyaz, was always happy and smiling, and cooks the BEST eggs. The activities staff, especially Tagi, Adi, Elijah and Kini, are outstanding and really enjoy engaging with the guests. They are the friendliest, loveliest people. As for the bar staff, they make the most amazing cocktails and service is pretty quick. Didn't notice Fiji time at all this time. Paul, Adelaide, Wise and Usa are the best bar staff ever. Always friendly and smiling. We never get the all inclusive as it doesn't suit us, and once again, we were really happy with our final account - especially when converted to AUS dollars. Once again, the Bure was clean and the housekeeping were great. Sorry guys, but can't find many negatives to comment on, other than the pool and bar no longer being 24 hours. Probably why we're planning our next trip already! We had a mixed bag with the weather - had 2 afternoons where it rained non stop - other than that a couple of days where we got a shower in the afternoon for about 1.2 hour and the rest of the days were HOT and humid. Unfortunately, although there were quite a few couples, there were only about 6 people at the disco each evening, but we still enjoyed ourselves and met some great new people who we hope to catch up with same time same place next year.
