“Good for a night”

I think that this hotel is a good choice for transiting out of Tahiti. The pros: convenient location for walking around town to shopping/restaurants, comfortable room/bed (we had a superior room facing west which offered a nice sunset view and the room was quiet), nice pool, great if you have a late night flight from Papeete as the hotel stores your luggage after check out and gives you towel/soap/shampoo to use the shower at their spa - this is great to freshen up before your overnight flight. The cons: the hotel is a bit tired and the room also seemed a little run down but proper maintenance might solve this. Overall, our experience was good as the hotel was convenient and comfortable enough.

We stayed two nights at the Tahiti-Nui at the end of our stay in French Polynesia. We chose it because it was convenient for seeing Papeete, which it was, five minutes from the food trucks, market, ferry terminal. Our 4th floor room was very modern & absolutely huge, but unfortunately was on the road side of the hotel. We're pretty good sleepers, but wow was it noisy, traffic noise all night long, probably because the hotel is right next to a petrol station. The shop at the Shell station was very handy for snacks & breakfast pastries at least.

As other people have commented, the hallway lighting is very dim, but we didn't spend long in the hallways. My only other concern was the large crack in the toilet wall...the toilet was big enough to swing a cat, maybe someone did. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. We didn't try the restaurant either, possibly due to the heavy, forbidding, closed doors that separated it from the lobby. Staff were very helpful, especially when it came to putting things in the safe, which we had to do because the rooms themselves don't have safes.

If you want to do a round-the-island tour, don't book it through the hotel, they put a sizeable markup on the tour, go direct to Tahiti-Nui Travel.

I'd probably stay in the hotel again but purely for convenience, & not for more than two nights.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the road.

We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. It was modern and updated. Our room was a mini suite mountain view. It is very convenient a 2 block walk to the water front with many food trucks at 6:00 every night. All shopping very close. The breakfast was very expensive but on the second floor of the food market is a great cafe with good and cheap breakfast. After our sailing trip they allowed us to leave our bags and use the pool and sauna etc. all day for a reasonable fee until our 11:00 PM flight.

Room Tip: Street in front very noisy. Get a Mountain View.

We were booked as a "Day pass" for the last day of our cruise----
Arriving first day of cruise, very very early, We thought We may have some consideration
for utilizing the amenities while waiting for our boarding of our ship around noon----so
really only looking for 3-4 hours to freshen-----But NO---full day prices were in effect and
there was no attempt by the staff to waiver any options. We had to pay full price just to
store our carry-on luggage.
A couple travelling for over 30 hrs; from Germany, and in our same situation, also received
no consideration as well.
Breakfast was over-priced and apologetic. And really---as We honoured our return from
cruise day pass---the hotel and facilities were very disappointing for value given.
Bottom line----stay anywhere else, and for little more money.

We stayed at Hotel Tahiti Nui for 3 nights when we first arrive in French Polynesian and one night on our way home. The location is great for walking to the market, for shopping and restaurants. The rooms are big with full fridge and kitchenette. The shower was a bit awkward the partition wall was small so the water got all over the floor, a minor problem. The Shell station right next door is nice for grabbing the essentials: beer, water and fresh baguettes. The rooms did not have an in room safe which is fairly standard in most hotels these days.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up, there is a club below and can be quite noisey on weekends

Nice and modern looking hotel conveniently located in the center of town at walking distance from the colorful market and dining rulottes! Our room with a mountain view was nice and clean with a cute balcony overlooking the swimming pool. There was free wifi internet access only at the reception area but we had cable access from our room. Breakfast was great although the restaurant was a bit too dark and gloomy. Wish it had an open view. Still service was very professional and we had a very comfortable stay. We left wishing to have stayed longer there !!
