“Sacret protection”
Reviewed 10 November 2013 via mobile

Maybe it is not dazzling. But it is an unique Ottoman mosque which wriggled out from the irreligious destruction of communism... just with the help of Allah (god). It is not hard to feel the history inside it.

“Exquisite Mosque in the Center of Town”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

Located in front of the Clock Tower, this 18th Century mosque was exquisite. Painted carvings around the outside of this small mosque was completely different from those seen elsewhere. The caretaker provided a warm welcome and I was glad to have made the stop.

Closed under communist rule, the Mosque reopened in 1991 as a house of worship, without permission from the authorities. I am told 10,000 courageous people showed up and the police did not interfere. Amazing. This event was a milestone in the rebirth of religious freedom in Albania.

P.S. Go at night when the mosque is strikingly lit.

“Et'hem Bey Mosque”

Well worth a visit- this is a beautiful and tranquil place. We knocked on the door and were allowed to enter by a very obliging caretaker. It is obligatory to remove footwear when entering a mosque but it is also a mark of respect for women to cover their heads so take a scarf when you go.

“Small”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Being a christian I am not often to be found in mosques. We arrived just after opening. The warden(?) helped us in and though barely speaking a few words in English explained us the rules and the most important things to know in the mosque. Which is nice and almost intimidating, but definitely not great and extraordinary like they say (at least not, if you have seen an orthodox or catholic church)

“Warm welcome at Mosque”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

We received a very warm welcome and were encouraged to explore the mosque and take photos. Gives you a great feeling as a non-Muslim to receive such a warm welcome. Strongly recommend visiting
