Hotels in Tirana are getting expensive so I was delighted to find a €22 deal for a single . You get a bit of luxury and care for a backpacker price . The only possible drawback for some visitors might be it's location out on the dusty Elbasanit Road but that's why the price is so reasonable. In fact the bus in takes only 20 mins and the taxi to Skanderberg Square is 500Leks or 3€ . The family who run this hotel are extremely friendly even by Albanian standards and could not do enough to please . The receptionist , an English and French teacher by day spoke good English and was really helpful . I bought a €3 breakfast which was impressive. The restaurant balcony looks over the Sauk hills .
Not to be missed is the proprietor's home made apple jam made from their own orchard nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

Got a great rate on this hotel through trip adviser €22 not inc breakfast or city tax. The room itself was OK, a little small, but clean and with a balcony, struggled to get the shower cool enough to get under. However we were at the front of the hotel which gets alot of traffic noise audiable even with the balcony doors closed, we went to sleep with the aircon on, but the power failed early into the night and the room became to hot to sleep, due to the noise from the road we couldn't open the doors and therefore had a poor nights sleep. The power still wasn't back when we checked out the following morning. I had read that power cuts can be a problem, but in 14 days this was the only hotel we stayed in that had the problem, maybe it was just unfortunate.
The girl on reception/waitressing was lovely and very helpful with good English.
The hotel is a 5-10 min drive from Tirana Centre, it has a restaurant and bar and both the evening meal and the breakfast we had there were fine.

Room Tip: Get one at the back

Me and my wife stayed at hotel Baron two nights, for our first visit in Albania, the reservation I took by booking.com at good price. Hotel Baron is situed on the left side of the Rruga Elbasanit when you’re coming from Elbasan, just 100 meters before enter in Tirana, beside a petrol station. It’s a safe area, no matter it’s outskirts Tirana and generally quiet (close is a new Austrian-Albanian residencial area), but during one night i could heard till 2 a.m. a very noisy music from one house nearby. It’s a very good location for visiting the city, there is a bus who reach the downtown in 15 minutes for a very cheap price. If you’re travelling by car, as I did, the hotel has enough parking places for free, who are guarded during the night and in the courtyard it’s also a restaurant.
I was impressed by the room and bathroom size, but also the balcony was large enough for two people. The warm water is produced by a boiler, the WIFI conection in my room had some problems, the LCD TV had many cable channels (including internationals), the bed was king size.
The breakfast is by order and good enough, but I strongly recommend you to have a dinner at the restaurant. You can stay inside the beautiful hall, where is a nice wine exposition or on the terrace to enjoy the landscapes and the buildings around. But first of all, you’ll be delighted by the dishes, no matter Albanian or international, they have a very good kitchen.
Hotel Baron has an important advantage: the people who are working there are very kind and helpful. They answered imediatelly to my mails, they did really everything for us to enjoy our stay in their hotel and in Tirana. They are speaking Italian (as most of the Albanians), but also German (the lady at the reception), English – the young lady. A special mention for Euxhenio – the young man, who knows many things about his country, is speaking a good English and is always ready to help you.
So, if you have a reserve to visit Albania, forget it. This country it’s in important progress, and even if Tirana is not an important European capital, it deserve for sure a short visit. And if you want to make a big deal, choose the Baron, the hotel offers a very good quality for a cheap price.

Hotel is located ten minutes by bus from the centre of tirana, which costs only 30 lek. The hotel is fairly small, but the rooms are large with air-con, t.v, en-suite and a balcony with a good view. Staff are very helpful and speak English, Italian and german. Didnt have breakfast while was there so not sure what it was like, however the evening meals were pretty good and inexpensive. This is a good budget option which is not too far from the more expensive hotels of the city centre.

It was an unseasonably cold spring day, but the staff put the oil heater on and soon I was warm. The hotel is a little hard to find: best to ring them. Once you have been there you will remember and it's then an easy bus trip from the centre. I suggested to the management that they ask TripAdvisor (and others!) to include a better map and details for travel by bus. Breakfast was excellent and it was good to sit out on the balcony when the weather warmed up.

Highly recommedmed for travellers arriving by car, but also for those using public transport. The young woman on reception speaks excellent English and she and the manager were very helpful. The tourist infrastructure in Albania is developing,, but Baron already provides an excellent and friendly service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony!

A bit out of town, and quite hard to find the door even once you're there (keep going beyond it). There's piles of rubbish around, but that's common to Tirana. The staff speak a little English, but tended to slip into German, which was fine for us at least. They were able to help point out the nearest bus station into town, a bus we got a lot.

The room was fine and clean, with a balcony.

Only real problem was I only got wifi in reception not in the room.

Room Tip: We had no wifi signal on second floor, might be better if you get a room near reception?
