This is my second stay at this place - this time a little disappointed. The room was not perfectly clean, the air conditioner AGAIN did not work so the room was cold. The bathroom was relatively clean - some leakage from the shower spread water all over... The location is one of the best, but my recommendation is try to find another hotel..

The excellent position of the hotel, close to the old town.Rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is friendly. The food for breakfast was good and varied, everyone can find something they like.It bothers me smoking in the breakfast room but it is the same everywhere in Bosnia. We all had a problem with hot water was not hot enough.Internet in the room doing bad, but when you compare the proximity of the city this is an average hotel.

We were staying at hotel Saraj for the New Year because it was the only choice in the package offer. Not so unbearably bad, but far from ideal choice. Except for the lowest price.
Interior - worn and old, no luxury.
Rooms - spacious and clean, but with a haunting smell of cigarette smoke. In Bosnia and Herzegovina is still allowed smoking indoor and all benefit from this privilege. We had the extra stove for heating, but it did not work, so it was little bit cold in the room. Rooms with city view have great views of the big cemetery too. If this fact you bothers you better request a room overlooking the mountains. There may, however, have problems with claustrophobia because
these rooms have no balconies and windows and part of the rock is cemented into the wall.
Bathroom - again clean, but the hotel has a general problem with the water supply and hot water. Although we were on the second floor there was almost no pressure and barely throwing. When there was hot water. Because in most cases this was missing. Even on New Year's necessary to refresh with cool to cold water. It definitely darkened our stay in Sarajevo. However, a hot shower after a day traveling is small but essential extra. Especially in December.
Food - breakfast was very good and rich . Yet I had a problem with cigarette smoke in the restaurant. At least there could prohibit smoking for guests to enjoy the taste of food. For dinner we had a set menu which, although with small portions were tasty. Another thing I noticed - desserts at diiner are available the next day for breakfast. It was the same for part of the menu for the New Year - on January 1 was served for breakfast.
Location - right next to the sign for the town . Really within walking distance of Old Town and the tourist attractions, but awkward transition. Walk along the main road of the city without a sidewalk or pedestrian area. Especially at night is dangerous. Good thing there was not much traffic. But the panoramic view of the city worthwhile. Above hotel there is a monastery and an old fortress , which are also nice to visit.
Staff - kind and polite . Always smiling . Very nice impression.
Others - Free wireless internet in the hotel , but in places the signal is weak . Our room was ok, but other friends complained that they could not connect. The restaurant and the reception also has a weak signal . Generally sufficient for several messages and a quick check of e-mail.
Due to the large capacity hotel often used to accommodate large groups , which can be a noisy
problem . Along with us was about 60 Slovenians , who all night screaming and banging on the stairs .

Despite the cons listed our stay in Sarajevo was very nice . The city deserves be seen and felt. If you have a higher budget suggest to choose another hotel. There are plenty of new and more central location accommodations .

I didn't enjoy my staying there at all. They write me to put me in a room with rear view and I found myself in a blind room, smoke-smelling :-( and without wi-fi. They have wi-fi in the hall but when there are more than some people trying to connect it doesn't work.
I don't advice to go there, awful beds and toilet.

Hotel Saraj is about 800 meters from Bascarcija. The view over Sarajevo is wonderful! Rooms are basic but ok. To get a shower we had to climb a very high bath tub, if you legs are not for that you may ask for another room. Breakfast is moderately good. The personnel is very kind and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view over the city.

If you pay the standard rate of 85 euro per night for a room, this hotel is really disappointing. If you get a bargain of 60, than it is acceptable as you have a nice view over Sarajevo and the reception staff is very friendly.
Issues are:
-Bathroom is smelly
-Shower has no curtains
-Worn out floors, old furniture
- Rooms are noisy (too much space under the door)
-Spa is closed
- WIFI has poor reception (big, concrete hotel)
- 15 minutes uphill walk from city centre (we took taxi all the time)
- 50% of the rooms have no window nor decent ventilation

Room Tip: rooms at the front side have windows, they cost more also

this is a decent hotel, emerging from the rock actually (this means that you can get a view on the rock or the wall). some of the rooms are renovated some of them are still very socialist style, with furniture as old as the mentioned socials period. breakfast is ok, with some local specialist, but in range of the budget hotel. stuff is very straightforward and warm, with motto: in sarajevo everything is allowed. including smoking in every part of the hotel. close to the city center (bascarsija) but it is on the hill, so this could be very demanding going up and down. it seems that youth excursion are often in the hotel, so it can be loud if you are on the same floor with them.

Room Tip: choose renovated rooms and with a view to the city
