The stuff is very polite, everybody English speaking. The rooms are clean and tidy. There are floors with refurbished rooms, I recommend you should ask for them. Breakfast is perfect. All day bar, night clubs, pool, gyms and other comforts are in place. There is some noise from the clubs during the night.

Room Tip: Ask for the refurbished rooms

is felt around, unfortunately also with a smell of tobacco smoke (maybe as a former smoker I am more sensitive to this). This is what I included in decreased "cleanliness" value.
Locations suited me well considering the places for my business (hospitals, universities), room and service corresponded to the very reasonable price. Well-arranged business centre available. Breakfast is little ordinary one for extra price, without fish and I would prefer a better choice of cheese. This can be overcome with excellent in-house Thomas Cook fish restaurant which I have pleasure to evaluate separately. Departure early coffee (5 a.m.) was promised but not served as the servant was probably busy in still lively night bar (?).

Kempinski Hotel Sofia proved to be a bad choice for celebrating the New Year 2014 together with my husband and another three couples. My first impression about the hotel was very unpleasant, as during the checking-in procedure we were asked to make a “safety deposit” which the receptionists charged arbitrarily (150 EUR for the two of us, and 100 EUR for other couples in our group for the same period). Such a deposit was not in any way mentioned or indicated by our Agency in all the documents contained in the voucher. When I asked the front office manager for the reason for such arbitrary criteria in charging the nowhere-mentioned safety deposit, I got the answer (after a few hours of his investigation) that the deposits were charged by two different receptionists and that one of them was (I quote) “intimidated” by the other members of our group, so she decided to charge less. I only wonder how come that the front office manager did not know anything about such “intimidation” although he was right there, too. He “learnt” about the situation only after I asked him to explain the criteria for such double standards hotel policy. That same night we had a problem with the waitress who somehow forgot to include our 30EUR advance in the bill. Also, the no-smoking rule on the premises does not apply to their senior managers, who get insulted if you ask them if they would mind others smoking there too… All in all it was a very bad experience with people who even turn a deaf ear when you ask them to give you the hotel guestbook. It must be the “hotel policy”! Thank you five star Kempinski for ruining what we hoped to be a very nice experience!

During last 3 years I had many business trips to Sofia, and during most of them I had stayed over night in Kempinski Zografski.
Very good hotel, clean, good breakfast.
I never had time to explore the mountain nearby, but thinking that every morning I had a very good view over the mountain has surely gave me a good mood to start the day.
Hotel is far from the center of Sofia, but if you want to go out for a local pub or restaurant you have several choices nearby.

Room Tip: South side give e view over the mountain, north side give a great view over the city. I always enjoy...

If you're looking for a western style hotel offering a good standard of accommodation and service - best to look elsewhere. I had a really disappointing experience there - average old fashioned decor, soviet-style service from reception, 30 year old air conditioning system not allowing to regulate the temperature in the room, things stolen from my bedroom, remote location in a run-down part of town. There really isn't even one reason to stay there. Some colleagues of mine stayed at Sheraton at the city centre - seems to be much better choice.

Beware: This hotel has two kinds of rooms. Mine was totally outdated, reminding me of the 90's old furniture, non-functional and outdated appliances. Two stars at most. Colleagues of mine have received totally different rooms, with new furniture and flat TV. Otherwise, the hotel is clean, services are decent and the personnel is OK. Far from town center.

Although this is a Kempinski brand hotel , the Sofia Kempinski is totally dangerous, insecure and unsafe. We were physically and verbally attacked by the hotel car paking personnel. The hotel management claimed that although the parking is in the hotel, it was being operated by someone else. Is this a Kempinski policy? How we can trust Kempinski brand again??!!!!!! We recommend everyone to reconsider these facts.
