A very good hotel for a short stay of two or three days. It is centrally located has easy access to the main sites of Sofia the capital of Bulgaria. We stayed there for two nights as a group of 20. Breakfast and Dinner was included.

This is a nice friendly hotel situated 5 minutes from Serdita metro station allowing easy access to the sites which are on the red coloured line. Breakfast is your standard Eastern European but you can go back for more. The staff were very helpful and friendly especially helping me get my camera back which I left on the bus from Plovdiv. I would definutely stay thete again.

Booked this hotel as a group holiday with two mates. Was cheap and so we were happy. The staff as we got there werent very cheerful and didnt really welcome us at all. The room was ok, had a tv and three seperate bed that were not uncomforable. The 'air con' was more a big fan that didnt do much but just about enough, the room was quite dark as well. The rooms were clean and cleaned everyday as well as sheets changed. The bathroom was nice except the shower doors werent put on properly or the right way round. There are 5 floors with rooms, ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd as otherwise its alot of stairs. The gym there is ok, very basic but ok. DONT GO TO THERE BREAKFAST and defo go out for evening meals and lunches. Its good on a budget and has a great location.

It's the hotel location which puts it on the 'good' list. Faded elegance in a pedestrian street. Comfortable enough inside - certainly our rooms were well appointed - but the panic button by the shower is a bit perturbing. It is walking distance (just) from the rail station - but only in daylight, the paths are far too uneven to risk in anything but full light. Excellent value cafes and restaurants within strolling distance of the hotel and most of the main sights can be walked to from the hotel. Taxi to the airport is easy and cheap. All in all, highly recommended for a short stay in Sofia. My only criticism - it serves the worst coffee I have had in my life! They have the necessary equipment on display in the restaurant/dining room but staf seem unwilling to use it, preferring to serve from an office style coffee machine Uggh!

Dear Mr. Peter,
thank you for your review and your nice words. We are accepting your criticism about the coffee. In past we had only american style coffee, but trying to respond to our guests taste we started with the vending machine, which seems is not well accepted.
For your future possible stay or for guest who may book our hotel, please if you don't like the served coffee, ask for espresso our waiters.
Sincerely,
Boriana Stratieva

I would recommend this hotel because of several things. First because of the location, in the city center. The hotel is on a pedestrian street (not so modern i must say) near the Hali pazar . Near the market of women and the synagogue. Rooms are large and can be upgraded room with a kitchen! . Hotel service and cleanliness excellent.Very good breakfast. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Upgrad room

We have used the Sveta Sofia (Saint Sofia) for a number of years when doing charity work among the very poor. The hotel claims 4 stars -- 2 1/2 is more likely. The service is doubtful and only one time after many complaints for some of our people who have asthma did we get the air conditioners turned on. (Have tried this trip for air conditioning for one of our people with breathing distress to no avail.) Breakfast is a gamble at best. There is a 4,000 US Espresso machine -- however trying to get one of the staff to actually make a coffee or cappuccino will likely result in you're being told, "The jugs on the table are from the machine." (As I was told twice this morning. After going to see the desk manager, we finally got coffees for two of us. When another of our party joined us and asked for a cappuccino they were told to use the now cold stale swill in the jugs. I went back to the manager and had words with the breakfast attendant. There was never any coffee, though the attendant did apologize. Finally down the street to the Athena cafe to purchase coffee. The bread for toast had mold. The scrambled eggs are usually so over cooked they taste like sulfur.) We have this same battle every year. Yet, the hotel is a beauty of old European (though fading) elegance, and the rooms are large. Next year, the new Bristol Best Western I think. We looked at it this morning. Though the price is much more, and we will have to negotiate for charity work.

Room Tip: There are late night bars on the side and back of hotel and can be noisy.
