Owner description: Completed in 1912, St. Alexander Nevsky Patriarchal Cathedral Stauropigial Memorial-Church is an impressive landmark in Sofia. The church was built as a memorial to the 200,000 Russian soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish Liberation War (1877-1878).

It is the in the city center and forms a triangle of faith with a Mosque and synagogue close by. It has been well maintained and offers one a chance to find peace in a bustling city.

A "must see" attraction in lovely Sofia. Impressive both from uotside and inside, and an exciting Flea Market just outside in a nice area makes this a nice visit.

The cathedral is of remarkable architecture with golden and copper dome roofs. The inside is decorated with many murals and mosaics. It is surrounded by numerous interesting buildings (Russian Church, St.Sofia Church, Art Gallery, National Assembly) and monuments. The outdoor antiques and souvenirs market is also very interesting.

It is worth seeing - the walls, wood carvings, chandeliers, the whole atmosphere is fabulous- especially the caves underneath - the church is build on top of ancient ruins! The service is quite impressive as well!

It is worth seeing the cathedral - it is in a great area, surrounded by small gardens, close to the Opera and the Parliament, good restaurants near by. You can also see the oldest church of Sofia just next to it. The cathedral is very special for Bulgarians - historically and culturally.
