Embassy is so tucked away that most visitors to Sophia will not know it exists, but if you venture out of the main drag towards the National Palace of Culture (NDK) and skip across Fritiof Nansen Street you will find Peter Beron Street, and at number 6 you will find Embassy Ethnic Restaurant.
Don't let the slightly odd name put you off, this is a fantastic restaurant. The building is black and classy looking, and as soon as you venture upstairs to the main restaurant you realise you are somewhere rather special.
The staff are attentive, speak good English, and the menu is available in English too. The choice is excellent, a wonderful selection of Greek, Lebanese, French, British and American dishes (the American option is steak!). The wine list is long and varied from cheap local wines to expensive imported varieties.
The interior decor is wonderful, sophisticated, classy and understated. Attention to detail is superb.
The food is prepared to a high standard, with excellent presentation, and the attentive waiting staff ensure your wine glass remains topped up perfectly.
Price wise, it is at the higher end of most restaurants in Sophia, but a 3 course meal with wine and coffee for 2 comes in at 80 lev, which at today's prices is €40 (euro). The quality of the food and the care and attention that goes into it really is outstanding for Sophia and indeed Bulgaria.
They have a website and a quick google of Embassy restaurant Sophia will give you their current menu, and some interior photographs which really do give justice to the interior design.
I would say this is my restaurant of choice in Sophia, and I look forward to visiting again soon.
