“Classic hotel with very friendly reception staff”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

The hotel is grand and classic, the location is very conveniently although it's a bit of a walk to the Ban Jelačić Square/sightseeing area. The staff at check-in and check-out were super friendly and that gave a very good impression of the hotel. (Other staff were not as warm but were still helpful.)

The room was spacious, we added an extra bed and it didn't make the room less so. But the placement of the bed was a little awkward, it was right in front of the bathroom. The bed and pillow were just right for me, as sometimes both get a bit too soft in European hotels. The TV is a bit small and not very clear, so we switched it off after a few minutes.

The waterflow for the shower was strong and stable and I love the rainforest shower head.

All in all, it was a wonderful stay, but I would choose a hotel near the Ban Jelačić Square to save the walk.

We stayed here for a bachelor party in June. The hotel building itself was very impressive. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We sat out on the terrace bar every evening. The hotel seemed like the go to place for all the expats living in Zagreb as there were many high end cars parked outside. There were at least 2 wedding functions during our time there. You can easily walk to the main square and the downtown areas from the hotel. It was close to all the nightlife and clubs. The sunday brunch at the hotel was very enjoyable and quite a feast. A few of us did not have room for the main course as the portion sizes were large. The food was cheap and of a high qualty. The bathrooms at the hotel a bit dated but the room are large and comfortable.

This is a wonderful old hotel with huge comfortable rooms. The beds are a bit hard and could do with a topper. The windows in our room opened fully (unlike many hotels) so we had a wonderful fresh breeze and great view.
Breakfast was attentive with a good choice (although the bacon was overcooked and far too salty) and the cocktails in the bar were excellent value.
I would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to my friends.

Room Tip: ask for a mattress topper if you need a soft bed

Stayed here for 5 days in October over an extended weekend.
Lovely hotel and great food with out the crazy price tag! We ate one night in the hotel which was very fine dining! Again without the crazy price tag.
Rooms were big as well as bathrooms but bathroom did not have a door.. Only the toilet!
Very close to the city centre, short walk to shops and restaurants.
Lots of places to walk around like the botanical gardens and not too far from the train station.

Great experience, the staff was more than helpful at every step of the way. The room a spotless and well appointed. The location is easy to find and about a ten minute walk to the lower section of the old city.

Room Tip: Inside rooms have no view

I loved almost everything in this hotel. we arrived in the pouring rain after a long drive and it was a relief to enter a lobby that was fabulous with very friendly professional staff. The only reason i didn't give this hotel the top ranking is because of tiny little details. Our junior suit was nice a bit grey but what put me off was the coffee machine which only had 2 capsules no cups no spoons or actually any method of having coffee. The next thing i found annoying was only one set of bath stuff which doesn't make sense to me when you are 2 people and when there is a separate shower. I also was surprised to see the old tv in the room as opposed to flat screen. But a plus goes on for a good bar selection and glasses. For me what elevates a hotel to the top is the little touches and if attention was given to those details this would be great as opposed to just vey good. on other matters I had in the bar a really good soup and i found the the temporary concierge really helpful. We wanted a private car to tour us around the old town. I loved the whole vibe of the hotel its atmosphere its staff and its spectacular terrace. We had a lovely meal in the bistro and and a nice breakfast. But I would have preferred to have freshly squeezed juices. I hate the concentrate stuff. Key for me is would i go and stay in the hotel again. Yes i would

Room Tip: This is a really really lovely hotel and it has a lovely indigent feel with a great location. small...
