I give this hotel 5 stars for one reason. The location is superb. Located right in the old town city center at the main square, and within walking distance of everything this city has to offer in the way of culture. So much to do around the area of this hotel, it would take days.
The hotel is also quite nice and charming. Really well taken care of, rooms in order and really nice condition, comfortable beds and bedding and lovely bathrooms. Staff quite nice and the entire hotel is properly managed. A little difficult to get to with a taxi since there is so much walking traffic and the hotel located where it is. But well worth any headaches associated with it.

If you're coming in from the airport, be advised that more times than not, taxi drivers CANNOT drive to this hotel. It's location is great in that it's right on the main square, but the access is on a pedestrian walkway and you are just dropped off "close" to Hotel Dubrovnik and you have to roll/carry all your stuff a block amidst many walkers to find the front door. On check-out, it was pouring rain and having to walk 2 blocks, everything was soaked. The hotel was great - very comfortable and roomy, nice bedding and pillows, clean, updated bathroom, good plug-ins for chargers, computers, etc. The front desk even changes dollars for the local Kuna so no need to find a bank. While it was great to overlook Ben Jelacic square, there really is quite a lot of noise - so be forewarned. The trolleys are right under the windows and while I was there, thre was a music festival that played music from noon to midnight. It would have been nice to leave the window open, but it was impossible with all the noise late into the night. The restaurant was only tolerable - nothing ever was "good" and it was expensive.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms overlooking the square unless you're ready for noise.

Dear guest,

Thank your for your mail. I read carefully your comment in regards to the noise from the streets and I have to say that a big investment has been made in regards to this problem. I would say that the noise is seriously reduced, but of course, a music festival just in front of the hotel is a challenge to this topic.

Possibly the best location in Zagreb, overlooking the Trg Ban Jelacic and close to everything. I did hear the tram noise in my room until midnight, but it was not that loud (4th floor). Bed and pillows were VERY comfortable. I was disappointed by the bathroom, which was renovated in 2006, but it is in need of another remodeling. Reception staff was helpful, but the dining room staff needs to greet quests! I came in several times for meals, and not once was I greeted (neither by hostess nor by waiters). Food was really good, breakfast varied with a lot of local tastes. I would come again.

Room Tip: avoid standard rooms, pay a bit more for premium/deluxe

Dear guest,

Thank you for your comment. As I mentioned in some other responses, we have renovated a significant number of rooms and we will continue to do so. What concerns me even more is the dining room staff. Clearly, this is an issue that needs urgent action. Thank you for your observation !

We had a 2 night stay in early May, while on vacation. The hotel was reached by hotel-arranged taxi from the airport, about 20 minutes. It is located on the main square, an easy walk to most major Zagreb attractions, and there are many worth a visit. Historically the building is an interesting place itself, renovated now to modern standards, but maintaining an ambience of by-gone days. Large, clean rooms with newer TV and appliances. Breakfast was included in the reasonable price but popular items were seemingly not replenished at the buffet and we arrived once to limited options and cold entres. The weather was apparently unexpectedly warm and the ventilation system cooling controls didn't work in our room. Upon inquiry we were told nothing could be done that day and to "open the window", not a bad idea, if the street noise hadn't been loud. Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, not so in the food service areas.

Room Tip: Arrange with the hotel to provide a taxi to meet your flight--costs less and no hassles at the airpo...

This is a busy city centre hotel. It is in a pedestrian area surrounded by shops and cafes. No real issue with pulling my case from the nearest road it did mean having to make an arrangement to meet a taxi on a nearby street corner for the return to the airport.

Contrary to what other reviewers have said I did found the staff at check -in and check -out rather impersonal - not unpleasant but not particularly welcoming. No matter - the key thing was that the room was fine. Lots of space to move about, a large walk in wardrobe, good wi-fi reception, international channels on TV. The bathroom is slightly drab with rather thin towels, and I would recommend you take your own toiletries. There was no iron in my room but a call to housekeeping saw one brought immediately.

i thought breakfast was adequate - despite the praise from some other reviewers, I have had better quality and more extensive choice in budget hotels in the UK. On neither morning that I arrived was there any member of staff to greet or seat me and in fact I was not approached by any member of staff to ask for my room number.

Yet taken overall the hotel is a safe choice - an excellent location within walking distance of the places I wanted to go to; a spacious well appointed room; and breakfast enough for a business trip.

This hotel is just off the main square which makes it in the centre of all the action - the rooms were very nice - very comfortable and the reception staff recommended some great restaurants for dinner. The breakfast was fine and overall we had a great stay.

This nice hotel is located in pedestrian street in the city center, almost on Ban Jelačić square. It is perfect place to stay if you want to explore the city on foot, because all attractions are close.
This was an old hotel, but now it is renovated, stylish and modern hotel, nicely equipped, with spacious and functional rooms, great restaurant with good and tasty food offer. The hotel offers smoking and non-smoking rooms. The only thing I did not like was room view ( there was a big wall obscuring my view, so I saw only a part of the yard of the building next to the hotel)

Dear guest,

Thank you for your comment. As mentioned in your comment, we have renovated a significant number od rooms and areas in the hotel and we will continue to do so in the future. Unfortunenatly, some rooms are facing the backyard and the view is not the best one. Nevertheless, thank you for your kind words !
