“Friendly Hotel”
Reviewed 21 October 2012

This little gem is well tucked away and hard to find but the staff were friendly and helpful in every way and we enjoyed or stay there. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast provided had a wide variety. We would recommend this as a great place to stay in Zagreb. ..........

Really good value for money. Room was quite small but was clean and had a TV, fridge, wardrobe and desk. We were there in summer and the room would have been very hot but luckily the airconditioner worked perfectly. Walking distance to the centre of town and main train station (about 15 minutes). Breakfast was fantastic with a great selection of breads, fruit, yoghurts, cheese etc and they also offered to cook eggs if you wanted a hot breakfast. Free internet. Staff were very helpful and ordered taxi's for us when needed. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was extremely clean. The paint was new. There were special areas for sitting and smoking/ reading. The manager/ owner of the hotel is one of its staff. When I came at 23:00 I was very hungry. She opened the kitchen especially for me and offered me all the food that was in the kitchen. When she understood that I am not eating cheese and butter she bought a Tuna canning especially for me and gave it to me at the breakfast. And she didn't agree to take money for what she has done.
The cakes at the breakfast were hand made.
The hotel has added value for the money. If you are looking for swimming pool and fitness room and more luxury - take another hotel. if you are looking for cheap hotel, simple, clean and nice with polite staff for one or more nights - that is the place for you.

It's a nice hotel. The exterior is a bit odd - looks a little like a barn. The inside though is nice. Think a US chain 2-star (if familiar) - Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Sleep Inn, etc. See the photo I uploaded. Decent sized rooms that are spotlessly clean, in good order, and fairly cute. Good front desk, and good free breakfast (cheeses, sausages, toast, coffee, etc.) General interior was actually awfully cute - little areas for sitting w/ plants, etc. Honestly - the exterior really is far too shabby for the interior.

The location is better than I thought it would be. It's 15 min. (direct, not confusing) walk to the nearest tram station, and about another 10 minutes from that tram station (walking) to the city center. I thought I'd had been sacrificing location for better reviews/lower price but...really, the location is not bad at all.

All in all - it's a definite 4/5 Tripadvisor type place. That is...it's not *amazing*, but it's quite nice, and you'd almost certainly stay there again as opposed to researching some place new.

We only stayed one night after a VERY long flight from Cape Town and we were not sure what we would find in a 2 star hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. It was clean, quite roomy and the breakfast was nice. The only negatives were the fact that you had to hold the shower head yourself when you shower, and the hotel is quite difficult to find with a car, since you can't get to the hotel from the main roads. The staff are very helpful and friendly. For 55 euros a night this is great value for money and I will definitely stay there again.

Hotels in Zagreb are really overpriced. Taking this fact into account Hotel Fala is a very cheap hotel. Not big but clean and comfortable rooms, friendly staff, PC with free internet, good breakfast.

Not in the centre, but it's no problem - buses to the centre go every two minutes. It takes about 20 minutes on foot to reach both main train station and main bus station.

By the way, if you take a shuttle bus from airport, no necessity to go to the kolodvor (bus station). Shuttle bus go near the hotel - just ask driver to stop near Fala.

I stayed there two times and if I will be in Zagreb, definitely I will stay in Fala

Clean toilet and shower. Good breakfast. Clean and light dining hall. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Air-conditioner worked quietly.
The room was good to overnigth but too small to stay all day long.
Unpleasant: the window of our room looked out on the corridor, there was no daylight in the room at all.
