“hotel in a city center”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

It is a very nice hotel, in Zagreb city center, next to hotel is a small shopping center with cineplex. Accomodation is excellent, restaurant very nice, coffe shop also, and best thing is that you can be in Bana Jelačića square wit 15 minutes walk. Very good overall

I have stayed at this hotel on a business trip, and had also insights from a period when my colleagues stayed in it on a regular basis (it was a company's contracted accommodation).
It is modern, excellently maintained hotel in a vicinity of the main railway station and with good road and traffic connections to the city center.
Breakfast is absolutely great. Rooms are average, but clean and completely OK.
The list price is higher than what the hotel offers, in compa-ratio with other hotels in Zagreb.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is oriented towards the back side of the hotel. The rooms oriented towards the s...

We enjoyed our one night at this hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly in organising transport for us (though our transfer from the airport was nowhere to be found). We still recommend booking the transfer though as it is significantly cheaper than getting a regular taxi.
The hotel is conveniently located about 15min walk from the old town, and right at the edge of down town. The rooms were clean and spacious.

Hotel itself was ok. Big, somewhat modern (if you can call it that!) and very business like. A little boring!

Location not the best for us as tourists as it was not in the centre of the city, however it was very close to the main bus and train station (walking distance around 10 min walk) and also walking distance to a lot of the big museums on the lower town. It was our stuff up for choosing it as we did not realise it was not close to the centre / old town and the drinking and eating streets - poor research on our part. Having said that, the tram was right outside the hotel and that was a quick ride into the centre and with Zagreb card (which we bought for museum discounts etc) that meant free transport which worked out well.

Hotel staff were nice enough but not really geared towards tourists as such.

The hotel room was spacious and comfortable but really dated decor. The room had a safe and a fridge which is always a plus. The rooms had free wifi but absolutely terrible connectivity - had to sit in the toilet to get any kind of connection and had to constantly re-log on as it would drop off constantly. It was an absolute pain and the worst thing about the hotel. This may not be an issue for other travellers but we like our wifi as we do a lot online research about the cities we stay at and other such stuff. Bathroom was reasonable with a good shower.

Breakfast was included in our room rate and was plentiful but mediocre quality. Would not recommend this hotel to ctourists wanting to be close to the heart beat of the city.

There are def better hotels with better locations, around the same price tag closer to the centre.

Dear guest! Thank you for writing a review of our hotel, ARCOTEL Allegra in Zagreb. We are very sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the hotel and our services, beacuse we are always trying to give our best in order to have happy and satisfied guests. It is truth that the hotel isn´t located directly on the main town square, but it has the perfect location between the main bus and train station and the city square can be reached by a leisurely 10 minutes stroll troughout the beautiful city parks with lots of sightseeing points. We hope that this will not be your last visit of Zagreb and do hope, that you will still give us one more chance and be our guest in the future again. Your ARCOTEL Allegra team

I just came back from Zagreb and the stay in Arcotel Allegra was one of the highlights. Although, at first sight the surrounding of the hotel does not look fancy, the hotel itself has quite a personality. It is small, clean with an excellent service. It's on a 10 minute walking distance from the main train station and 15 minutes walk from the Ban Jelacic Square and the city center. It has its own bar with a wide selection of coffees, smoothies and juices facing the main street. However, at night it's nicely quiet. The amenities, although bit old, looked like in a good shape and very clean. There was a good WI Fi connection during our whole stay.
We were lucky to get special offer on booking for this hotel and at the end, regarding value for money, we were more then happy to stay here. Will definitely come back on the next trip to Zagreb

We stayed at Arcotel Allegra from 7-8th and 12th Aug.
Location:
The hotel has a good location and is very well connected to the rest of Zagreb via trams 6, 2 and 13 that stop at and around the hotel. It is next to the Sheraton so easy to explain to cab drivers. In any case it is well known. Tram 6 will take you to Upper Town (3 stops away) or Gronji which has a lot to see - Museums, Art, Culture and Food. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the local square with park and shopping area (Konzum is there).
Staff:
The staff is exceptionally helpful, patient and pleasant, especially the two ladies who man the reception. They arranged our commute with the local taxis on call to airport and once to Jarun Lake.
Rooms:
We stayed at the Junior Suite which was pretty large - It had a double bed and 2 singe sofa cum beds. The beds were very comfortable.
Breakfast:
The buffet has a fairy large spread. They serve the same menu everyday I think, but there is quite a bit to choose from.
Services:
We found the room service both polite and prompt. We arrived rather late from Split on the night of 12th. The room service accommodated the children's request for milk and corn flakes generally not on offer at those hours. The Spa (Sauna and Jacuzzi) are offered free of cost to guests as is the Wifi:)
I would definitely recommend this hotel to those planning on a short trip to Zagreb.

Room Tip: Junior Suites will do good for couples with 2 teen children poss of the same gender. We were put up...

I stayed twice in June 2013 in this hotel, room 224 (double bed), room 124 (twin room), booked once through hotels.com, and once directly on their website where sometimes it is cheaper. The rooms we had give over a calm yard. The hotel fulfilled our requests expressed during the booking. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, all quality and new materials, great bathroom. AC works well. 5 minutes walk to the central Train station (direction right from the hotel), 10 minutes walk (direction left from the hotel) to the central Bus station where the airport bus arrives and leaves. Mostly recommended!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room over the inner yard, if you wish to avoid the street side (cars, tram). However, the...
