“Lots better than the first glance.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

When we first arrived we were surely shocked. The house looked like ruins. Ok, the hotel is, so to say, in the back yards, the ruins are not part of it. And the hotel is a pleasant stay.

The rooms are ok, the restaurant and the breakfast really good. There is a well-sorted souvenir shop on board, the reception changes Euros into Kune. Also right next door there are a few nice restaurants and bars.

酒店裝修似蘇聯時期.dark and horrible.restaurant close after 10:00,no service only one man in the reception. The feel is pretty much the worse you will experience anywhere else in the world(very soviet-like), with parts in the room falling apart,(I.e. Broken locks in the doors) and really dark lightings . Although the price is very competitive, but there is a lack of toiletries available in the room, as well as the lack of facilities within the hotel; the restaurant basically doesn't open in the evening, no bar. The fact that there is a strip club in the hotel further exacerbates the situation, who would want to be in the same hotel as strippers?(p.s. Unless you are into that kind of thing!) I have to say the hotel is the last place you want to be in the world, and I really do think that a hostel in North Korea is better than this pit. I have say if you want a good accommodation, please look elsewhere!(P.s. Only written after a few hours of stay in the hotel, that explains our discontent!)

Dear Wai Yee C
Thank you for providing us with your feedback about your recent stay in our hotel. I regret to learn you did not experience the service levels that you may expect from us. I have discussed your comments with the relevant department heads.
At the beginning just to show you customer reviews of our hotel on 12.July 2014th on:
Tripadvisor - 3 out of 5
Expedia - 3.9 out of 5
HRS - 7.1 out of 10
Booking.com - 7.4 out of 10
Venere - 8.7 Excellent - out of 10

Ratings are - you have to admit a lot of good

The hotel is also recommended by the editorial of Timeout magazin and Hotel Laguna has been voted by Venere.com 's users as Top Overall Ratings 2013th . Hotel is also popular on Foursquare portal .

Your observations are partially correct and would like to respond them. The design of each hotel is special to someone and you may like it and some may not. It is true that our reception has a dark plate and create a dark atmosphere, but the entire area is clean. Restaurant closes in at 10 am and that information you have in the room and at the entrance to the restaurant. Depending on the scope of work at the front desk doing one or two people. Many other world (3 stars) hotels have one or two people at the front desk. It is important that the receptionist is prompt, courteous and polite. Please let us know your room number to fix the lock for which you say is a broken-if it's true. Lighting in the room is suitable for all hotel standards.

Every day in our bathrooms supplement hygiene and is not true that these funds missing. If you spend any funds and should you still could have free to seek additional funding. Amenities at our hotel are: in addition to the restaurant, bar, cafe, car rental, gift shop and a nightclub (not a strip bar). Night club is not obliged to use and it is your will that you will use it or not. The information that we have and night club is on our website where you are able to receive information about our services you can use or not. Perhaps hostels in North Korea are really good - and I'm glad, but our hotel meets all the criteria for 3-star hotel that is prescribed by the Croatian government. I wish you'd let me know in which you have all the 3 stars hotels were in Europe, because in my experience, our hotel is better than many (3 *) hotels in London, Paris, Prague, Cologne, Berlin, Budapest - cities where I resided. I'm sorry that our hotel did not meet your expectations, and I'm sorry you did not write the good ones by the hotel - cleanliness, free wifi, free parking for all guests, close to downtown and the Museum (Technical Museum, the Museum of basketball players Drazen Petrovic, Mimara Museum , Croatian National Theatre, ... Our guests by his own admission- get value for money.
Once again we express our regret that our hotel did not meet your expectations, and I ask you to contact me personally.
Should your future travels take you to Zagreb again, we would welcome the opportunity to improve your impression of our hotel. Please do contact me directly on marketing@hotel-laguna.hr, so I can personally ensure you are well taken care of.
Yours sincerely

We were here on a bus tour of Croatia, so I can't really comment on the value for the room, but I can tell it isn't an expensive one :)

The location is poor if you are expecting to walk anywhere from the hotel, it is probably more convenient and economical to take a cab to the city center if you are in a group of 2 or more people.

The basics are there:
- Elevators
- Air Conditioning (close the window to turn it on!)
- Free Wifi
- OK room size

However these are the issues with the hotel
1) The "shower" is a converted old-school bathtub. If you are elderly or with limited mobility, this is a dangerous shower for you to use. It is a good 2.5 foot step off the ground to get into the tub. The tub also has a slant to it (for people wanting to recline for a bath). Which leaves a tiny flat part of the tub to stand for the shower, and also making it tricky and dangerous to get in and out of. The shower is also mounted to the side of the tub, which reduces the width of the shower area significantly. I am 5'10" average build, and I barely had enough elbow room to shower. Just be careful when stepping in and out of the tub, especially when wet.
2) This is not a non-smoking hotel (along with the rest of Europe). In the middle of the night, we could smell smoke coming in from the hallway. This is the worst kind of issue, since there's not much you can do about it. We ended up opening the window (which turned off the AC) just so the breeze could push the smoke back out to the hall

Besides the Smoke and the tiny shower/tub, the hotel is OK for a european 3 star, just don't expect much when you check in.

Room Tip: See if they have a smoke free floor!

Stayed here for 3 nights. It was cool, very friendly and clean. The whole place had a very 1970's feel to it and the rooms were basic, but they had all you would need. For breakfast there was an amazing choice of different foods. The hotel was convenient for the tram stops and within walking distance of the city centre.

Room Tip: Some rooms don't have minibars in them. I would check at reception as they are vital for keepin...

We spent 2 nights here and enjoyed our stay, fair value for money. Located out of the city centre but easy tram ride (No. 12) in and out of the city with stop 5 minutes walk. After all the idea is to explore Zagreb
For those not wanting to dine in there are 2 excellent restuarants in the area, also reasonably priced. Staff friendly and assisted with our enquiries

I stayed in hotel Laguna for 3 nights in February 2014, adn was very happy to get my moneys worth. It is placed near the city centre and tram and bus stations, the staff is pleasent and helpful, food decent and the rooms are quite comfortable. The hotel is clean and I would go back there.

Spent a weekend. The hotel is ideally located, very close to city center (20 mins walk). Good breakfast. I would suggest to try the menu the offer at lunch and in dinner at the restaurant. Its quite cheap and very good quality food. Free parking. They charge 10 Euro/day for pet (we traveled with our cat). The bath tub is quite small.
