“Great location...but a couple of opportunities”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

So, first time in Bucharest. Came across this hotel on trip advisor as it was highly recommended. It is located in the 'old part' of Bucharest, and prefectly located for transport, shopping centres and the amazing cafes, bars and restaurants.

So, a couple of things in the first 24 hours.

The staff are fantastic, very helpful and well presented. The restaurant and bar on the ground floor is great.

There are no tea/coffee making faclites in the rooms? A bit strange. However, wander out of the hotel and there are plenty of little bakeries selling fresh pastries for about 2 Lei (US .60 cents). Cafe's are a bit more challenging to find.

No ironing board/iron in rooms. A bit of a pain considering I'm here on business. I'm yet to request one, which shouldn't be a problem.

No ice or ice machine. Interesting, considering they do have a small bar fridge in each room.

No clock or clock radio. Really quite strange, as every hotel I've stayed in has one beside the bed. I did ask for one, however I was told this wasn't possible. I was offered a 'wake up call', which I arranged, however I suspect the person charged with that responsibility may have slept in, as no one called.

For tourists, very little information. No list of tours, no flyers, no tour desk, no maps or the area...

Four days to go...

Room Tip: I'm on the fifth level, very quiet.

Small rooms, half of them looking to the attium over the lobby, can not pull the curtain because corridors are literally outside the inside rooms. Quite noisy due to echo, smells cigarette.
Noisy rooms too, those facing the boulevard. Very bad cable tv connection. Cafe, etc service independet than the hotel management. You have to pay there & then. First time ever seen that. Rather expensive for what it offers. Otherwise clean. Not an advantage being in the old town which does not have worthwhile places to eat / drink other than few sights.

The hotel is nicely located just on the edge of Old town centre opposite to a huge park and a shopping mall. The bus (783) tht brings you from the airport stops no more than 5 mins walk from the hotel, actually the hotel can be seen from the distatnce of the bus stop, Unirii 1. Return stop to the airport (Unirii 2) is also not far, walking distance may be abt 6/7 mins.
Me and my mate arrived at the hotel around 1 in the afternoon. Although we were not expected until 2pm (arival time which I mentioned in the booking), our room was ready and checkin literally was done in a few mins, both the girls in reception was pretty and helpful !! Our luggage was carried to the room, and all the requests I made while booking was carried out in advance, for example, room with an outside view, upper floor, empty minibar etc. made me happy on my first impression. They even provided an adapter for my iphone to be charged.
The room was spacious, with a big window with a view of Hanul man luc and the old town church. Room was clean, air con worked absolutely fine, the bathroom was spotless with toiletries provided. The shower pressure was excellent, seems like they had a renovation not long ago or have good maintennance. The LCD TV had limited channels though, mostly local language or russian, only a few english ones. We requested extra pillows which were brought promptly, housekeeping cleaned our room everyday with fresh towels, there was not much to find fault with. Even the wifi worked really well, high speed and free, you can skype and video stream in you want !
This is a short business kindda stay hotel and not for leisure. Downside of the hotel, I would say is there is there is no gym, or sauna or pool, however with the price I paid and the location we got may be it was a meant to be like this. There is super market carrefour not far from the hotel, lots of choices around food, the famous Lipscan street is just on the backside of the hotel. The restaurant in the lobby was nice and staff was helpful. Can not comment on the breakfast as we did not take tht, thought we would rather try the local varieties.
If you are on a short trip then this is your hotel, definitely will stay again if I come back to Bucharest.

If you're searching for a hotel directly in the centre of Bucharest, this is a perfect one.
The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is very nice and helpfull.
Sleeping is a challenge if you room is located at the main street, because the drivers are blowing the horn every minute of the day!
The restaurant is a nice place to stay, if you are not in a hurry. The staff could be more attentive. Payment has do be done cash or by credit card. Booking on the room is impossible.
The breakfast is really good and included in the rate for the room.
By walking around the corner of the hotel, you are already reached the old town, which is a lovely place. A lot of restaurants and bars are offering delicious meals and drinks.

Nice location near old part of town. Close to walking area with bars resturant and shopping. Friendly checkin and quick. The hotel needs some more colour in decoration in lobby. Rooms are ok but not sure when last renovation was made. Small selection of breakfast that should be improved
