“Probably the best hotel I've stayed in”
Reviewed 25 November 2011

When we arrived for our long weekend stay we were greeted by friendly helpful staff. The junior suite we stayed was spacious and well appointed with a large bed and large bathroom. The spa facilities were good with a pool, steam bath and sauna with the option of a massage. The breakfast was more than adequate with a good selection of hot and cold food. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly. We thought the only negative was that the restaurant was very expensive for dinner. We ate out every evening as there are numerous good and cheap Romanian restaurants nearby.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bucharest.

Tucked away in tiny, quiet a cul-de-sac street in downtown Bucharest, one may have a difficult time getting there. Not all taxi drivers know of it, nor many locals do. It' a stone throw form one of the nicest and oldest parks in the city and just 10 min walk from the University Square and the Old Town.

The hotel is nicely designed in a pre-war style on the outside although is a newly erected building (opened oct 2010). Modern minimalist and tasteful decor in lobby, restaurant, spa and rooms.

Only a small number of rooms (about 25 if I recall rightly). All of them are suites, junior or master. Excellently spaced, designed and appointed.
Spa is a little basement floor marvel, wet + dry sauna, showers, a great pool with fancy lighting. Gym room rather small.
But the restaurant is a hit.
In a city with no michelin awarded restaurants this is one of the only two restaurants in the city with the menu and kitchen run by Michelin star awarded chefs, Guy Martin (3-star).
Try their beef, their pumpkin consome and fabulos deserts, all washed down with great and rare Podgoriy Isaresco romanian red wine.
Very friendly and attentive service thoughout unlike the one offered many other pretentious and more expensive establishments. Western europeans may excuse me being blunt - the service is surprisingly close to American standard, which is somewhat rare to find and not consistent throughout western europe while in the east is simply not applicable. Here, they managed somehow to do it.
Underground and outside parking complete the amenities in city suffocated by traffic chaos and parked cars everywhere.

This is a great spot if you chose to visit bucharest for leisure (unlikely) or have to for business or personal reasons. Treat your guests at epoque and they'll be thankful.

Travelling from the Middle East we were looking forward to some cold weather and Bucharest didn't disappoint. Epoque is in the centre of town, and as with all large citys, this centre encompasses many areas. Epoque seems to be in a pretty quiet part of town with few bars and restaurants around, although these are within easy walking distance, 10mins. The staff at the hotel are the one of the strongest assets, very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is well appointed and has a new feel to it, nice flat screen tvs in the rooms although not much to watch on them apart from news channels from around the world. Pay films are available for around ten pounds, the selection of around 30 titles included many I'd seen before, however the adult section was almost encyclopaedic.

Although the weather was cool enough to allow us to wear coats, inside Epoque is a different matter. Everywhere apart from our room, where the ac was on bust, was hot. Definitely recommended for those with thin blood and tropical plants. Conversely, the small, beautifully crafted pool in the basement was stone cold. Not sure if it was supposed to be that way and at the time, couldn't find anybody to ask. Nice health spa though with sauna, steam room and mood shower that was also a wake up call to the senses.

Overall, had a blast in Bucharest. The bars are open late, loads of people around, people out at night walking around the park by the hotel.....and loads of them. Safe to walk about the place and cheap. We had a box at the opera and it set us back nearly fifty quid. So many good aspects to this city and the hotel, but what is going on with the food? Only got one decent meal in the whole week and tried both the hotel and local restaurants. Had to resort to KFC at one point and what a relief that was. My regret is not to have any good advice food-wise except eat well before you go. Our one good meal was nothing to write home about or write here about. Most of the places we went to got quite smokey after a while, something I'm out of practice with whilst eating, all part of being in a foreign place though.

If I went to Bucharest again, would I stay at the same place?
Probably not. I would like to try somewhere a little livelier with the chance of meeting people. The restaurant at Epoque was usually empty and the bar the same, although this is in the lobby and not the sort of place people congregate. Not much wrong with the hotel on the whole, just little things, although the friendly, courteous and warm nature of some of the staff make up for that. If you like boutique hotel style and quiet seclusion, give it a go, it's well worth a try.

This hotel is like oasis, great staff, rooms are just fantastic. Expensive considering the economy in Romania, but worth it! I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: These are all suites so enjoy

Spent 6 nights and nothing but good experiences. Desk, restaurant, bar, and door staff all very helpful and friendly. Location is ideal, close to old town, restaurants, transportation, but at the end of dead-end lane, so very quiet. Nice spa facility, well-appointed comfortable rooms, VERY clean. Breakfast included with both buffet choices and made to order hot items (omelets, etc). Reasonable rates. Would recommend this hotel for couples, business travellers, and families.

This is a new hotel built in Bucharest but a very nice one. It is a little hard to find but a gps or a taxi will do the trick. The interior is incredible and the infrastructure is great. The rooms are very well equipped and have 5 stats services. The personal of the hotel is very well trained and will help you with anything you. This a place you should defenetly consider if you are going to Bucharest!!!:)
