“Great location- great stay”
Reviewed 7 June 2010

Hotel is downtown Bucharest, 5 min walking to old town.
Very nice staff, very clean rooms, wonderful food.
The Club lounge looks very new and offers a great view and relaxing athomsphere. Just had a look but didn't book it. So I don't know the price of it.
The old town has nice areas but still there is a lot to renovate. People are overall friendly.
Opposite the hotel is the Opera and the University, so a lot of cultural offers are within walking distance.

You can get a room as cheap as 80 Euro. The hotel is solid IC quality and really centrally located. Staff is very friendly. Hotel Bar is very expensive (5 Euro a Beer) for Romania. Avoid the Casino in the lower floor as staff is rude and agressive. Nice pool at top floor with sun terrace and view over Bucharest.

I stayed here twice in the last month, mid April and mid May. In April my colleagues and I were at a conference during the volcano eruption and we were stuck. The staff was so helpful and extended our groups' reservations at a reduced rate. When a group of us arranged a bus back to Brussels they called forward to their wonderful sister hotel in Budapest and arranged for rooms that night. The staff was just as great on my second visit, but I was thankful that I didn't get stranded there this time. The hotel does not look like much from the outside but once inside it is a different story. The rooms are large and the bed and bedding are absolutely amazing. The location is great, in the heart of Bucharest in easy walking distance to a number of things, including the metro. If I am ever in Bucharest again this is definitely where I am staying!

One month ago I was unable to enter my own house because I misplaced my keys. I had to take a hotel room. This is how I got to Intercontinental Hotel. The room was clean and warm and the breakfast just amazing.
I will come back here if I have to. :)

The intercontinental in Bucharest may not be the best one out there but we certainly found the hotel standard to be sufficient for our needs. Though we only stayed there for one night, we had a pretty good look around the capital's landmarks - many thanks to the hotel's central location. The bedroom, in general, appeared somewhat dated but fully facilitated with relatively nice view of the city. The room temperature was just right, allowing us a very restful sleep after long flight. Couldnt remember much about the bathroom features but we had nothing to complain really. The room slippers were so comfy that we had to pack them in our suitcase :) Mind you, we don't usually bring them home!!

We wish we were there longer so we could provide a more comprehensive review of this Intercontinental property. Nevertheless, we kind of enjoyed our stay and would not mind returning next time we are in Bucharest.

The Interconti in Bucarest is a large building from the communist era - not really a highlight of architecture - but the facilities and the service is quite good. The rooms are not so modern (furniture, technical equipment), but quite comfortable. The breakfast was served in the club lounge in floor 21 - a nice place with large windows (allthough the view of Bucarest is not worth to remember...). The choice of food was okay, maybe a little bit to less fruits. Unfortunately I had no time to visit the gym, so no remarks about this. There is no WiFi available in the rooms - you have to use the cable-based internet, which constricts the freedom of movement inside the room, when working with the notebook.
From Interconti you can reach the old town with some nice restaurants by walking, or you can take a cab, which are parking in front of the hotel.
All in all there is more to it than meets the eye.

This was a very pleasant stay. Staff is very courteous, rooms are clean. Sauna was amazing and the pool safe. The jacuzzi was available scarcely but one can hunt for good moments to get in. Breakfast more than delicious with wide variety of food options.

Location is downtown where the mileage for the country starts and the US Embassy is located in the back of the hotel. Subway available right outside at "Piata Universitatii" (University Square). Don't take the taxi from outside the hotel along the road. Either ask for a low rate taxi from the receptionist or go along the road one block away from the hotel to pick up one. Some taxis have inflated rates even with the charging legal machines that take advantage of the tourists lack of knowledge of the local market pricing. Parking is paid long term outside or underground (need guidance for the latter; entry is located behind another building near the Embassy but parking for pedestrians who left their cars underground has access directly to the lobby).

KFC (non-smoking) and Pizza Hut (smoking and non-smoking within the same facility) are nearby within walking distance towards the National Police, Shopping store Victoria and Lipscani Str (well known since the beginning of the XIXth century). Tips of 10% are appreciated.

Great choice, can't wait to go back again.
