“wonderful surprise”
Reviewed 4 December 2012

We stayed at Opera Hotel for one night in late November and the place was a great surprise .It is situated in the city center , very close to the National Theatre. We had one double room with a king size bed at the 7th floor . The room was spacious , same was the bath . The bed was very , very confortable , the staff polite and overall the experience was a very pleasant one . I would have no problem recommending it as a great location for a traveller that seeks accommodation in the city center .

The hotel is located right next to beautiful Cismigiu park and within a short walking distance to what is left of the city's historic centre (Lipscani Street). Though centrally located, the hotel is a few streets away from major trafic arteries which significantly reduced the noise and made sleeping easier, even though my mattress was a bit uncomfortable (perhaps it was the late night eating as well!)

Rooms were clean and staff was helpful and courteous. The breakfast was rather poor on variety but one must not forget that this is a budget hotel.
There is free wifi available, though I couldn't get a decent signal in my room, but still I could check my email from the publicly available computer in the lobby.

Would I stay at the hotel again? Yes, as it offers great value for money and location and but nothing else is exceptional about it.

I have just returned from 5 day stay at this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice a hotel it was. The rooms were very clean and very spacious. The location is a 5 - 10 minute walk from the Lipscani district in Bucharest. There was a few mini marts near by and a few restaurants near the hotel. unfortunately the hotel does not have a very big bar and there are not so many bars in the immediate area but i did not find this a disadvantage. The rooms are smoking however it was not evident in the room i was staying in apart from the ash tray in the corner.
There are lots of interesting places within walking distance and there is a big park behind the hotel for summer times.

This was just a night stay at the beginning of a 11 day group holiday. Tiny lobby and bar as well as the room being clean and spacious with a large single bed. Staff helpful. Average breakfast. Walking distance to city center.

We found this hotel on the Internet and it was ideal for our 2-day stay in Bucharest. It was a 10-minute walk from the bus stop at Piata Universitie, and was just next to the Parcul Cismigiu and not far from Piata Revolutie and other interesting places. It was close enough to the Old Town for frequent strolls there.

The staff were welcoming when we arrived, the suite was comfortable (Rigoletto, on the first floor) and the Internet worked well. The air conditioner was a bit close to the bed, but quiet enough, and all was clean in the room and bathroom.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite (Rigoletto, on the first floor) and a double room ("matrimonial") on...

I booked the Central Hotel but they were doing renos, so I got sent to Hotel Opera and upgraded to a junior suite on the top floor. Very spacious room! The bathroom is bigger than most London hotels.

Location is 10min walk from Old Town but a bit far from everything else. Since I visited in late June, every day was over 35C under the scorching sun, which is unbearable for me from a cold country!

Breakfast selection was not much and there were flies two days in a row. Maybe it`s summer time so lots of flies....

Reception was friendly and helpful. A pretty nice hotel in Romanian standards!

We were in Bucharest only for three nights so it was important for us to arrive to Enescu festival. Hotel Opera is situated in the center of the town, so close to "sala Palatului", Ateneul Roman or Calea Victoriei - an important avenue of Bucharest. The breakfast was excellent, the staff was polite and friendly, on TV we could see Israel channel and the room was clean and large, with air conditioning and nice windows.
I should like to come back to this hotel.

Room Tip: higher floors have less noise. we had a twins room, soory it has no name! there are names like Aida...
