Always a good night to go out, even on Mondays! Good bars and clubs and everything so cheap and lots of people.

“Old street”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

Situated in the old part of the city,Lipscani is a crowded pedestrian street. There are a lot of bars ,cafes and little shops. The prices are higher than in other areas of the city. The big majority of the buildings need serious rehabilitation.
You can find here the National Bank of Romania.

“Disappointing - overrated street”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

Since there is an entry for Old Town, I'll only write about Lipscani in the Lipscani slot!
Well, all my research pointed to this street and some people even said it had been renovated? I can't believe it. I can see some rest of past glory (old buildings with nice architecture) but it is soon hidden by ugly posters or flags or signage when it is not graffiti, palisades hiding construction work, etc. I read it was a lively place. We strolled there in the afternoon, early and around 6pm and nothing was really going on. So if this is the best Bucharest has to offer, it is sad, go to Brasov!

“'New' Lipscani street”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

This street is part of the 'Old town' area, a rebuilt part of Old Bucharest that used to be a run down area and is now a high end eatery and shopping place. It is nice to walk in this area, and have a beer or dinner when the outdoor terraces are open.

“A nice place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

The old center of Bucharest was once the center of business of Bucharest. Lipscani comes from Lipsca, the old local name for Leipzig, and was a street full of shops and street trade. Major banks and National Bank of Romania built their sumptuous palaces there. Gradually after 1950 the area felt into decrepitude and the owners left the houses, some gypsies taking them over. About ten years ago a big renovation program started and the Centru Vechi (The Old Center) was transformed in a large recreation area, meaning till now mostly restaurants, clubs, beer houses and pubs. However, more and more shops open their doors now.
During the evening my guess is that the average age of visitors is 22-24 and the place is quite crowded.
Just a few houses however are still to be renovated and some of recent inhabitants are seen there.
It is one of the places where west meets east! Deserves a vist!
