I should declare before I start that I am not a great fan of the Ibis Group, however my husband is fascinated by big interesting buildings and with the Parliament House right across this was his preferred spot and the price was good. The position is the best thing in this hotel, it's centrally placed, even better than the Marriott and has a great view of the Parliament House and Izvor park.
The parking however is problematic even to just enter the hotel, you cannot park the car and get your bags unloaded out the front without blocking the access, and when you go in the back, you are already in the paid parking area which is very small and also confusing with a coin operated system all badly designed. However as an artist it is very important to travel and see the world (well that is my excuse anyway) to have experiences both good and bad helps with the artistic inspiration both for my artwork and also for the blogs on my website and there are a few funny car park paintings I will just have to paint now :) When we finally got in the hotel things were a little better, our room was actually rather nice. But the lifts were very frustrating having to use the key card which only worked half the time. No coffee or tea facilities or gym and a very small bar area in the foyer. I made good use of the fire escape stairs as my personal gym and managed some 1000 steps up and down as my original plan for an outside walk fell apart with the rain as the hotel did not have any umbrellas to lend me either :( So yet again the Ibis did not shine for us however Bucharest and Romania certainly did as we loved both the town and this country and enjoyed everything else about our stay. After all sometimes you are so busy that the hotel is just a place to have a sleep and as that this worked rather well for us.
