I loved this hotel! The breakfast was wonderful, service unparalleled! The rooms are great. The gym is great to get in a work out on your trip. They provide free internet, champagne breakfast, and trendy rooms. You need to go to La Mamas for dinner. There are two of these so be careful, you need to go to the one by the Hilton hotel.

I have traveled abroad to many places and although used to professional, polite, and capable hotel service, I was surprised by the outstanding quality of the staff at this particular hotel.

The personnel responded with a smile and great courtesy to any of our requests and solved any resonable demand very timely.
The moment you entered the hotel you noticed the positive, friendly, welcoming attitude of the staff.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Bucharest.
It is located in the heart of the city, but on a quiet street. If you book ahead of time, ask for rooms on the 6th or 7th floor, the lower levels do not have a view.

If you’re trying to find a hotel that provides a good atmosphere for sleeping and rest, don’t stay here. There is a club next door that plays loud, bass-driven music until 4am Wednesday through Saturday nights. It is impossible to sleep through the noise this causes. Even with earplugs in, it’s too loud to sleep. To provide some relative context: I live in a city and am used to noisy environments. This goes beyond city noise; it’s basically like being in the club, it’s that loud.

While it was 40C+ outside in Bucharest, this hotel was a cool oasis of calm in an otherwise rather chaotic city.

The hotel is centrally located, although we were able to park easily outside for free (side note, driving standards are unbelievably poor in Romania with the roads in terrible condition, traffic lights often not working even at major intersections etc!)

A friendly receptionist, who spoke good English, greeted us at the hotel. We’d booked a triple business room which was large and was good value for money.

The room was well appointed, definitely 4 star international standard. Breakfast was excellent - a great range to suit all tastes.

There was supposed to be wi-fi but we couldn’t pick up a signal. However there are free internet terminals in the lobby and in the business centre on the lower ground floor.

Overall this was an excellent stay and this hotel is highly recommended.

We had booked a regular double room but due to many bookings at the hotel, we got a free upgrade and stayed in a large triple room instead. The room (and the hotel in general) was very clean, the bathroom of high standard and the beds were really comfortable. The double rooms seemed to be much smaller but with the same equipment.
The air-conditioning in the room worked really well, which was a major advantage since it was really hot in Bucharest during our visit (+40 degrees C). The air-conditioning was quite noisy when used on full effect, but the lower effects were enough, so it didn’t make any difference.
The breakfast buffet was good (very good compared to “regular” eastern European breakfast buffets).
The only minor downside was that we didn’t have any view from our room (on the second floor) – it faced a narrow alley and the neighboring building. There was a minor problem with the check-out (it took a long time and they tried to charge for products from the minibar that we hadn’t used), but in general the staff was professional and friendly.
It was easy to get to the hotel by bus 783 from the Otopeni airport and the hotel is very well located. The bus-stop is about 500 m from the hotel. You are practically in the absolute center of the city, but because the hotel is situated on a quiet side street it is only an advantage. The distance to the nearest underground station (Universitate) is about 300 m, and you can find a handful of places to eat and drink (at least in the summer) in the area nearby (the nearest is wall to wall with the hotel). There is also a post-office nearby (it seemed like you could buy stamps only at the post-office and they were a bit hard to find) – ask the staff at the hotel to for directions. To find a food store was a little bit more difficult – the nearest we managed to find was in the Unirea shopping center at Piata Unirii.
All in all, we found K+K Hotel Elisabeta an excellent hotel and can really recommend it.

This little house is an oasis in the hot(july with 40°C) an dusty center of the romanian capital.
Spotless rooms, a bit small by the way and no dramatic views from the windows. Good working aircon, LCD Tv, Minibar, free internet , bath with no tub but effective working shower. Breakfast above the average with delicious italian antipasti and fantastic cakes. Little gym with a finish sauna. Next to the reception a very nice bar and a modern designed lobby.
Definetly worth the special rate of € 100,- ! Stay there!

We spent 4 days in Bucharest and 3 nights in K&K Hotel Elisabeta. Although located in a chaotic but relatively quiet side street (Str. Slanic), the K&K is close to some of the major buildings downtown as well as a wealth of cheap and fast public transportation means: metro, numerous buses, tram and trolleys. For a traveller used to international standards, there is nothing earthshaking in this hotel but it provides the service quality and friendliness that you will particularly welcome in a noisy and sometimes dirty city like Bucharest: spotless although relatively small rooms, pristine and comfortable beds, functionning showers, top class breakfast buffet, free internet access, quiet and efficient air conditioning, friendly, helpful and smiling staff (apparently mainly students). The only unpleasant thing is the fact that rooms have very small windows providing view to a tiny, dirty and ugly inner courtyard (see picture). I would therefore not recommend this hotel to a claustrophobic individual. For others, forget looking through the windows and enjoy your stay!
At a walking distance, there are several good - not cheap - cafés with excellent snacks and a good choice of imported and local beers, in particular in Str. Caragiu, perpendicular to the Universitate building (Bulevardul Elisabeta) and in front of church Rusa (see photo). The old town is nearby, in a terrible state of dilapidation with new arrogant buildings (see photo) and some old churches (see photo). Don't miss Piata Unirii if fountains happen to be functionning (photo), surrounded by neostalinian buildings and a perspective view on the Parliament Palace (you will find many pictures elsewhere).
If you wish to avoid the difficulties listed in numerous reports about taxi drivers, you can use bus 783 from the Otopeni airport: it stops at Piata Universitatii, 200 m away from the hotel, and costs only 5 RON (about 2€) for both ways, or one way for two persons. The stop for going back to Otopeni airport is in front of the Coltea Hospital, again 200m from the hotel. It's safer, cheaper, as fast as a taxi and a good opportunity to meet local people.
About stray dogs: we saw some which looked rather shy and not agressive. It appears more important to make sure you don't walk in their droppings than to fear them. By the way, some Bucurestians seem to love these dogs: you will see pedestrians stopping for patting them and giving them a bite.
About street children: very, very few in the center of the city. You will have to be alerted to notice them. Some beggars also, but certainly not a nuisance.
About Gypsies: again very few of them visible in the center. They seem to gather mostly in parks in families (or clans) and do not bother pedestrians unless you watch them or take pictures. The basic rule of touristic wisdom applies also here: do not provoke!
Safety: no problem encountered even in the old town which has a poor reputation in this respect including among Bucurestians. Again: do not provoke with golden watches and fancy cameras or videos.
A little advice for those loving classical music: Bucharest has a little known opera situated at the end of B-dul Kogalniceanu (20 min walking, 5 min by bus from the hotel). We enjoyed a good level performance of "La Traviata" for about 6 € pp in the parterre. Public was cheeful and very warm. As everywhere, it's advisable to buy tickets in advance.
