“A little gem in Bucharest”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

The hotel tempo is in a ideal situation, only ten minutes walk from the university square where you arrive by bus (number 783) from airport .It only costs 8 lei for 2 people which is less than £2. You get around 5 lei/ron to the pound , so the exchange rate is very favourable. You can get to many of the main attractions and sights within easy walk from the hotel. The rooms are large and come complete with a bathroom which has a shower and a hairdryer , queen size bed, satellite tv, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar. The room we stayed in 302 also had a balcony as well. The room has plenty points to plug devices into and even has a adsl socket where you plug your ethernet cable into for your internet connection. You can also get wi fi as well.
The breakfast dining area has an array of cheeses and meats, cereals, youghurts and fruit. The best thing about the breakfast though has to be the AWESOME cheese and smoked ham omelettes that are prepared for you, They really set you up for the day!
The hotel represents great value for money and i would thoroughly recommend it for your stay in Bucharest.

When you first arrive at the hotel you may be worried about the surrounding streets but ignore this as most of the city is in rebuild.

One of the biggest factors in recommending a Hotel is how they deal with things when they go wrong. We were placed in room 204 which was at the front of the Hotel overlooking the road. The room itself was a decent size and nice with all the amenities you would expect from a decent hotel. Unfortunately the traffic kept me awake on the first night there and I awoke a bit moody.
Up stepped Marius who was frankly a star. On arriving for breakfast he asked if I had everything we needed and if I had slept well. I said not really as it was a little loud. No problem he said I'll move you to a quieter room.

I hadn't asked to be moved hadn't even mentioned I had a major issue I had only made a comment in passing and yet Marius was so conscientious that he insisted that we moved even if their was the slightest possibility our sleep may be interrupted again. The room we were moved to was high and quiet and I would recommend asking for a high floor when booking here. The staff were all good though and the room were clean and spacious.

The big plus though is location to the main city and old town. You can pretty much walk anywhere you need to from here and for those trips further afield the metro and bus routes are on your doorstep.

Breakfast was filling and the service again was excellent.

A perfect little hotel for a great weekend.

Room Tip: Book high and at the back.

It's what you need in Bucharest: central location, cozy room with working tools incl WLan, hot shower, safe plus good breakfast and helpful, friendly staff incl Mr Marian, all this for a decent price if booked online. One thing about Romanian winter: If you switch on any a/c-unit (here or anywhere else) it runs on Romanian "winter mode" turning your room into a sauna. If you open the window by night it may get too cold or too noisy. The trick is to put your a/c on double-zero: "off", and the temperature button to the lowest temperature like 10 centigrad or so, leaving it absolutely dead. Then open the window for some fresh air till you want to sleep, then close it and enjoy a comfortable night. Don`t sit next to a/c-units in restaurants or bring your bathing suit - 28 centigrad is nothing.

While permanently living in Bucharest, I always kept noticing the hotel; never being able to tell whether this place is worth a try or not.

Now, when returning to Bucharest just for business stays, I found Tempo Hotel one of the best suiting places to stay overnight. In walking distance to the city centre, yet still away from the "madding crowd", I can only recommend this place for constant quality services, a friendly, well managed hotel staff and clean, functional rooms.

If you are the practical traveller type, not looking for fancy shmancy but for constant, decent quality services, here's the place to stay.

First visit to Bucharest. Had no previous local comparison material. Stayed for 4 days while on business trip. Keeping in mind that this is 3 star (only!) hotel my conclusion is as follows.

- Tempo hotel offers EXCELLENT price value quality! (I found the hotel to be cheap compared to Western European cities but that is logical).
- Free WIFI is a plus!
- The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were also delivered daily.
- The lady that makes breakfast is SO friendly! She actually remembered what I've ordered the previous day and how I like my coffee. She was, without any doubt, the most friendly staff member!
- Located in the 'Armenian' neighbourhood was not really that exciting but some attractions are within walking distance. Tempo doesn't have the best central location but even so it's still very nice for healthy short walks to the old town (approx. 20 min), the shopping area etc.
- Located within a few steps of a mini market and some restaurants.

I would EASILY recommend this hotel mainly because of the very good price value balance and because I honestly have NO complaints whatsoever. Having said that this hotel would not be my personal first choice next time because I prefer a bit more upscale lodging that offers more comfort, luxury and business ambiance (to receive business partners and clients). But then again this preference is a matter of personal taste and budget and NOT a reflection of Tempo Hotel's service!

This 3 star hotel has a great price quality value and certainly deserved the TripAdvisor certificate of Excellence!!!

Hotel Tempo is a recommended hotel in Bucharest and it really is a best place to stay. It's location is close and walking distance to University Square, Piatta Unirii and Old Town where we're able to get around without having to take metro, bus or taxi. It's serene although it's next to tramway and a lot of cars pass by. The hotel itself with it's room, dining area is clean and with lovely interior apt for business and holidays kind of trip / for travelers. They really served the best omelet as we've learned from past reviews and had a lot for breakfast during the entire stay. The staffs are friendly, welcoming, really hard-working and service oriented. I had a great time and stay in this hotel and would definitely recommend this one.
