“Great hotel, excellent value”
Reviewed 27 July 2009

Initially, I was hesitant to book this hotel as I read it was not exactly in Bucharest city center (about 6km away to be specific). That may only be a problem if you completely dislike walking. The Metro station is probably a 15 min walk from the hotel through the beautiful Herastrau park and it takes you down in dead central Bucharest. Taxi is always an option too.
If you have a car, parking is free. The airport is close (15-20min with traffic, 10 min with no traffic), so taking a taxi shouldn't be very expensive.

Front desk service was excellent - the guys working there were polite and accomodating and spoke very good English. I am not sure when check out time was, but noone bothered us until 1pm on the day we left. I consider this a strong plus.

As far as hotel interior is concerned - its been throroughly described in the previous reviews - hip and stylish lobby, and clean and modern, albeit smallish, rooms. See pictures for more info.

Breakfast and free WIFI was included in the 70 EUR per night rate. All in all, great value.

We stayed at the Ramada Convention Center after checking out of the Phoenicia Grand. Wow what a difference!
This hotel is brand new, with high-design furniture and art work throughout the lobby and the rooms. The lobby staff were very helpful with restaurant recommendations. The rooms had very comfortable beds, nice flat screen televisions, and decent-sized bathrooms. This hotel felt very safe, and you could tell from the crowd during breakfast that the hotel was for professional businessmen (ie no casino or strip clubs on-site or nearby).

Although the location is a bit outside of the city center, which means it won't appeal to tourists, it is a great locale for business travellers as it is close to most of the office parks on the outskirts of the city.

I would definitely recommend this hotel!

After staying at the Ramada Plaza in Budapest prior to our Danube Cruise, we looked forward to spending our last nights at The Ramada Plaza in Bucharest. Unfortunately, except for a substantial buffet breakfast, there were no similiarities. Many of us found that our rooms did not have air conditioning - we were told to wait 15 minutes -still nothing. After complaining repeatedly to a reception staff who was totally unresponsive, our program director was able to get us another room - Smoking. Yuck! Additionally, there was no pool - it was closed until October, as was the fitness center. We returned to our room to find the window open - and the smell just as bad as when we left it.
The cruise held a banquet buffet in the hotel - it was totally disorganized - many waiting a half hour in line to get their food.
The only positive - our cruise director was able to get us a room in a nearby hotel.

  • Liked — breakfast buffet, internet access in lobby
  • Disliked — air conditioning was not working, pool/gym out of order, unresponsive reception desk

Newer hotel with some areas still under construction. The room and bath were adequate size and clean. The main problem was that the hotel was too far from the city center. There were a couple of nice restaurants within walking distance and a very nice park. Probabaly, a good place to stay for events at the convention center, but not if you want to tour the city.
