Description: Our Story During fall and winter months you can feel a dangerous lack of salt smell, taste of salty droplets on your skin and drop of blue sky in your eyes, which can lead to lack of concentration and mind that wanders through the piles of work that you left behind. Don’t worry, that could happen to anyone who craves for sweet taste of oceans deep, even if it were not for small shells or mullet from southern waters of Mljet. If that is true, you are ready for “Tata Mata”. Locale One of the few remaining pre-war houses, with a garden in the Dalmatian street, which restaurant owners completely restored, belonged to the famous Serbian and Yugoslavian director, actor, professor of the Academy of Dramatic Arts, whose scene today bears his name, Mata Milosevic. With the goal and desire to preserve his memory, not violating his reputation, we came up with a name that includes his heritage and emphasizes excellence of the Restaurant – Tata Mata stands for the great master of Adriatic kitchen. Nonchalant elegance of the interior does not detract from the warmth of the space created for relaxing and enjoying the delights of cuisine. The concept of the restaurant explicitly emphasizes playful white-and-blue bar in a specially lighted boat made of ship lamps, while you can see bottles peeking from the waves of the sea foam on the wall. Decorative details are used with restraint, with no emphasize on food – because food here is vivid enough. With two dining rooms and a wine bar, the plan is also to include a tavern with a wine cellar in the basement of the house. Garden is charmful, ideal to be anchored to a table-bar; this amazing setting is a mosaic in a brilliant performance of artist named simply Maksa. Tables of wrought iron are craftsmanship of Ratko Markovic, and each mosaic revives sea world magnificently.

Located in a pre-war building where well know Serbian director, actor and professor at the Academy of Dramatic Arts Mata Milosevic lived, is Tata Mata (Papa Mata) Mediterranean seafood restaurant. We were celebrating my birthday guided by kind and knowledgeable waiter who helped us choose from the menu. We ordered a few appetizers and once we tried them, we repeated the order waiting for fresh grilled fish. Make sure you try Tuna Tartar, Octopus Carpaccio, Grilled Octopus and Octopus with Vegetables, Grilled Goat Cheese, Black Risotto and Risotto With Smoked Seafood as well as Tuna Steak, all delicious, succulent and fresh paired with great Zlatni Posip wine from the island of Hvar, Plenkovic winery. We are coming back Tata Mata, get ready
