Belgrade City Hotel

We stayed at the Belgrade City Hotel for one night as a stop over in between cities. We booked our room about one month in advance and also reserved the airport pickup. (The cost of the transfer was 20 Euros and worth the prompt service after a long day of air travel.) From the time of our booking, the hotel staff was friendly and helpful in arranging details of the airport transfer by email. The kind service continued through check-in.

We found the room in the main hotel (a triple) to be lovely, spacious and clean. The hotel is located across the street from the bus/train station which was perfect for us. It's about a 25 minute walk to the main areas to visit in the city, but the hotel staff is also able to explain options for using public transportation in the city if you'd prefer not to walk.

Free wi-fi was available in the rooms and in the lobby. The included breakfast was delicious with a great deal of variety.

We wished our stay could have been longer! Highly recommend.

We had rooms in the annex. OK they are small but they are good value for money.

The staff are very helpful, ordering taxi for us, getting breakfast sorted out at 3 in the morning due to our stupid flight time on the last night.

There's a restaurant/bar nearby where you can get 20% discount (ask for a card from reception).

Right by the train station with very good train, bus and tram connections and not that far from the Old Town.

Situated opposite the railway station and near the bus station, this hotel is well placed for travel connections. The area felt very safe at night. It is handy for the city centre though reaching it requires a short uphill stroll. Hotel staff were excellent, ensuring a prompt check-in and check-out. The room (in the main building) looked out across to the station and a fairly busy main road but there there were no noise issues. I was impressed by the size of the room with a very modern bathroom. Good air-conditioning. There was a good choice at the breakfast buffet.

Newberry Tours visited Serbia en route to a Wales v Macedonia game in Skopje. We did not really know what to expect but this place turned out to be a real treasure. Right across the road to the railway station which has a beautiful facade. There were no down and outs or beggars one normally associates with big city train stations, in fact I strolled over for a coffee one night and watched the basketball with the locals in the station cafe. It was great!
Hotel staff were polite, friendly and welcoming and extremely helpful at all times. Wifi throughout, good food clean rooms and really inexpensive.
Highly recommended and the Serbian people are wonderful. We booked an overnight train down to Skopje and the lady in the station booking office was great!
Top tip... go up to the fort and watch the sun set. STUNNING!

Hotel is situated just opposite the main railway station, in a renovated old building. It's located on a walking distance from the downtown. Rooms are good, clean and tidy. Breakfast is good. The staff is smiling, speaking fluent English. Have in mind that there is also a economy part of the hotel.

I stayed here for 10 days at the beggining of August and I was pleasantly surprised that what I paid for the hotel was not what I got. The hotel beyond exceeded my expectations. Starting with a speedy check in, the lady at the front desk ( sorry I forgot your name) was friendly and informative. The Server at the restaurant was amazing, he made me feel really welcome snd his english was excellent and every morning at the breakfast buffet (which was included) he would strike up a conversation with me. I booked this hotel partly because of its age (est 1914), because I love heritage buildings, but things worked fine. The air conditioning was heavenly and although the room was on the small size, it was good enough for me. The safe did not work in my room but the front desk staff offered an alternative of storing it in their safe, which actually worked better for me. The buffet had lots of options and was delicious. As, I also work for the hotel industry, it's really the small things that count. The fact that the staff got to know me throughout my staff, was really impressive as I was told that Eastern European hospitality isn't very great. I was close by to downtown, and the weather was unreal...40 degrees everyday! The location really was what got me to book, and how cute the hotel was. I would definitely stay here again, maybe for longer next time, this was one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. But everyone knows that a hotel can make/break your trip and the staff made mine. Thank you:)

Ideally placed opposite Belgrade's international railway station there is an unexpected Teutonic efficiency about this hotel. Staff throughout the hotel are cordial without being overly welcoming, however this should not detract the fact that the hotel will meet most travellers' expectations in terms of price, room comfort and the quality of the restaurant's cuisine.

The position of the hotel ensures that a brisk walk up the hill on the road junction by the hotel will take the hotel guest directly into the heart of the city, including the main pedestrianized area; city tours are also within easy reach as is the waterfront by the rivers Sava and Danube. An additional benefit of the hotel's location is that those arriving by rail will be able to avoid having to travel in a Balkan taxi.

Most of the key staff at the hotel speak excellent English and have a working knowledge of other European languages, especially Slavic ones. The hotel's laundry service is the swiftest I have ever experienced at a fraction of the cost of most hotels further up the River Danube. Were I ever to return to Belgrade I would have no hesitation at staying at the Belgrade City Hotel again.
