“Where Belgraders come to promenade at sunset”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

The origin of Belgrade and towering over the city, this is probably the first place you should head on arriving as it gives a lovely view over the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. Its one of those places where the locals come to stroll as the sun goes down whilst young lovers meet for not-so-secret trysts, There are a variety of cafes and restaurants, an art gallery, the military museum and others within the ground. Or you can just grab and ice cream, stroll past the souvenir sellers and try to work out which ones might be too politically risque even for that really offensive mate of yours, you know the one!

“Fortress above two rivers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

It´s a nice place to walk and relax in Belgrade. The fortress is nothing really special, personally I didn´t find there any magic which would hit me. However the place is beautiful thanks to its location above two marvellous rivers which are becoming the one just below this fortress. Apart from this you could observe a lot of Belgrade city. So you could consider this place as a place with great views, more than a place of fortress itself.

“Great walking spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

This is the common place to go to, regardless of the season and weather conditions. It gives a lot in terms of walking and view. It is relatively clean (toilet facilities were appalling several years ago, I do not know if that was improved, but I doubt) and safe (of course, use your commons sense, Belgrade can be a very unsafe place - accidents are rare, but they do happen, just like in any other city). Gallery of the Natural History Museum is there, you can visit The Roman Well, there are two small churches, Military Museum (very boring, to be honest, but small kids can have some fun climbing the cannons), a famous gallery (Cvijeta Zuzorić). The area is also very good for pet walking, it offers lot in terms of photography. Zoo is very close, there is a small train riding all over (the upper part, at least). The lower part is separated by a busy road, and is on the river. For museums and some parts of the fortress (Kula Nebojša, Sahat Kula, Roman Well) there is a fee, the entrance to the fortress is free and you can walk in the evening. There are some restaurants and cafes, mostly average (Kalemegdanska terasa being the most famous). If you like walking, you should not miss this area.

“Just another fort”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

There were some restaurants, shops, and entertainment. People, including locals, seemed to enjoy walking about day and evening. There was an excellent photographic exhibit about Belgrade's bombing by the Nazis and later the Allies during WWII.

“Great views over the rivers”

You can see most of Belgrade from here. Great views and a nice wonder through a very pleasant park to get to it.
