Make sure you get up to the top of Devil's Door. It has stunning views of the city and the mountains. You can even see to the beach

Vistas are great. Legend is fun. Young men haul water to the top of the hike early in the morning, so you don't have to carry water if you want to focus on the climb.

The views here were wonderful. It was easy to get there. There are food stands to try the local fair. We went with an infant and did not do the hiking since the surfaces were wet and slippery. Just don't walk off on your own, always stay near others.

The hike includes short and longer hikes. The scenery is beautiful, but unfortunately, is marred by the garbage people throw on the paths. Learn about the history of the Puerto del Diablo before going there. it will make your visit more memorable.

This is a great place to go while there is still daylight. It is a place for a lot of national tourists. There are places to park your car although a lot of the spaces are specifically allotted for restaurants. I recommend going around 4-5 while daylight and looking at all of the stands of things that are available for purchase. Then you can take some time to look at the view of San Salvador during the day as well as view the other cities and the lake. Take your time choosing a restaurant and get a good seat by the window. (I recommend a pupuseria about one block away from the tourists at the center of the Y intersection). You can watch the sun set and see the lights come on. When you are done eating go back out and see all the tents with sellers and their wares as well as snap some photos of the glimmering night lights. Enjoy!
