Hotel La Fragata
Ranked #61 of 79 Managua B&B and Inns
Reviewed 1 December 2011

We arrive to Managua around 5 pm and didn´t have hotel reservations anywhere, as that night we wanted to go to La Casa de los Mejía Godoy restaurant and art place for a concert, we were trying to get a basic hotel as close as possible of the concert and get a good rate because we just need it to spend the night and leave after breakfast.
La Fragata hotel looks as an old warm house in the outside and has a gated parking lot, a nice receptionist-owner lady and it´s less than 200 mts from a Mall and the restaurant we were looking for, those would be the possitive thing I can say about it.
So the lady offered us a cuadruple room with breakfast included, charged us in advance and the rate was ok. Them took us to the room and there were 5 basic beds, a TV, bathroom, and a really noisy A/C unit. There was a little humidity smell that goes away after you turn on the A/C. The bathroom was super small and when you open the shower the water splashes almost half of the whole bathroom including the floor and even the walls! Furniture was old and ugly, the sheets and towels were clean but old too.
That night, before we go out to the concert, they told us the breakfast options and asked what we wanted to have next morning. At 7 am they knocked our door room with the breakfast, we were sleeping and of course we didn´t expect the receptionist in our door with all the food. I asked him for a dinning hall (we knew they didn´t have a restaurant) or at least a decent table to eat but he said that we need to have it in the room - on the beds- or in the couch that they have in the lobby... he say also that we needed to have breakfast at 7 am because that is the only hour they have someone available to cook. The food was not great, coffee really and juice really bad.
That morning I found several red spots in my back and legs, so probably the have bed bugs. We know we didn´t pay a lot for staying there that night, but the place is pretty bad. Next time, we rather to pay more and stay in Euro Hotel which is right in front and it´s a nicer place because we checked it later.
