We stayed at Colibri on our final night in Nicaragua at the end of 2+ weeks of traveling. Our driver from San Juan del Sur wasn't quite sure where it was located - and our limited Spanish skills weren't any help! - but we found it without too much trouble. The entrance is actually a bit tricky to locate as it is not along the main street, but rather tucked behind on some side streets.
It is located near several other large hotels (Hilton Princess, Seminole Plaza) in the central business district of Managua. Lots of restaurants within walking or short taxi ride. However, we were dragging after our travels, so we ended up just having the very friendly staff order pizza for delivery at the hotel for us. Staff provided us with plates and utensils from the kitchen. Funny note: we were told that Burger King also delivers!
We had a room on the ground level, just off the common area, but it was quiet. The room was modest size and clean, with a nice bathroom and shower. The bed was comfortable, and the a/c cooled things down nicely.
Staff arranged for an early morning taxi to the airport, no problem at all.
In two trips to Nicaragua, we've tried 3 places for one-night stays and have been pleased with all of our choices. Colibri is a place we'd not hesitate to stay in the future.More
