“Solid choice for a short stay in Managua”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

This hostal is convenienty located in a safe neighbourhood of Managua and very close to the biggest mall, where you can stock up with groceries and other stuff. The rooms are basic but clean and the outdoor sitting area is nice and quiet. Dona Ida is a very friendly, welcoming person and the soul of the hostel.

Her lady at the reception offers to organize taxis. It's convenient but much more expensive than most taxis on the roads. If you find a trustful taxi driver in Managua, rather get his phone number and organize all the rides you need with him.

Very good place to stay. Not really much to say about this except it satisfied all of my needs. Cheap, clean, relatively central, friendly owner and staff. All in all a good value hostal. You won't regret staying here.

Very comfortable beds and it's very clean and quiet with a really nice breeze and outside eating space. Taxi got here very easily from the bus station and it only took about ten minutes. Very pleasant and relaxed residential environment on a safe and clean Street. Really worth it! The owner was very helpful and we used the kitchen for our own food. Slept very well. Highly recommended

We stayed here for a quick one night stop in Managua. We were greeted by the lady owner who was very nice but there was a slight dispute about what we owed due to having already paid the deposit online through hostelbookers. After showing the email confirmation, we agreed on the balance. We got in the room and switched the aircon on, which was instantly switched off and we were told we hadn't paid for this, just the fan. The booking never gave the option to have it or not but it is listed in their facilities, so that was annoying as we thought we had paid to have it. We needed to pay an extra $15 - they really should make it clear on third party websites. Good clean kitchen (cleanest fridge ever!) meant we could cook for ourselves as the place is a bit in the middle of nowhere so not an option to eat out close-by. The owner kindly booked us a taxi for 4.30am for our early bus - this was a comfort in a city where taxi drivers regularly rob people. Overall, not a bad place.

A very homely and nice hostel, with a good location in Managua. You have Metrocentro and restaurants in walking distance, and various bus connections close by. The family is so sweet and helpful, the beds are big and comfortable and there is a nice little garden where you can relax!

Room Tip: The dorms had a lot of space, so it is not a must to take a private room. There is a room in the yar...

I stayed with doña Ida for 2 weeks all together & loved it. Cozy atmosphere, lovely rooms, freedom to use the kitchen and cook own meals, extremely friendly staff (English and Spanish speaking). It's convenient too with walking distance to the main mall Metrocentro and Viva Spanish School where I was taking some lessons. Can highly recommend it to anyone staying in Managua, short or long term.

I love staying here! I live on Little Corn Island and every time I stay in Managua, I stay at Hostal Dona Ida. Its like my home away from home. Ida, the owner, is such an amazing mother figure as she loves to take care of you and ensures that you are always comfortable and always satisfied.

All of the employees here are freaking amazing. So smiley, so helpful, great energy. They all make me feel welcome and at home.

Oh and the best part...there is HOT WATER and the internet is AMAZING!

Moral of the story: If you want a lovely, quiet stay that is super close to the mall and grocery store, then stay here.

Room Tip: If you come early (anytime after 10am) then you will get a sweet bed.
